Exams as pre-reqs to free ILT

Hi!

How can I set up a free exam as a pre-req to paid ILT? I have added both to LP, but since the exam is free and LP is free, it automatically enrolls users in the ILT once they pass the exam.

@daruniam
Can you tell me more about your use case?
Why is the exam a prereq? Do they need to pass the exam before enrolling in the paid ILT?

I would put the exam in a course and offer that course as a standalone “free” exam. Then you can put that course (that they could take for free) in with the paid learning plan, where the exam is the prerequisite. They can either take the exam separately for free to try it out or pay in advance for access to both the free exam and, once completed, they can immediately sign up for a ILT class. Either way, completion in free version should grant them credit in the paid version and vice versa.

Hi @daruniam - setup the course as your normally would. Then setup an automatic group based on enrollment status = complete for the course. This will automatically add a completed user to the group.

Then setup an enrollment rule so that users in the automatic group are automatically enrolled in the learning plan.

Regarding Enrollment Rules - remember they are not retroactive. Meaning that you build the automatic group but do not activate it or complete the rules until the enrollment rule is built and tied to the group. Once you activate or complete the automatic group then as users are added to the group they are added to the rule.

I had a LOT of fights with Learning plans and ILT’s because of the auto enrollments to the ILT without session enrollment happening. Also like your situation, the prerequisites are free and the ILT is not.

One caveat here is that we are not using Docebo for fee collection, we use CVENT, but here is how we solved it.

  1. Create a learning plan with the prerequisites.
  2. Create the ILT
  3. Add a course into the learning plan that is only available after all other courses are complete (if not using an enforced order) , or put the course last if you are using an enforced order.
  4. That last class has a single HTML page containing links to the CVent site for the ILT.
  5. Learner registers there and pays there.
  6. Within Cvent, we send out a session based enrollment link to the ILT in Docebo.

If I was doing this 100% inside of Docebo here is how I would do it

  1. Create a learning plan with the prerequisites.
  2. Create the ILT
  3. Completion of the learning plan triggers an automatic group enrollment.
  4. Create a new catalog that contains your ILT class(es) and is only visible to that group

So the learner enrolls in the learning plan from their standard catalog and once complete they return to the main catalog page and can see the new catalog with the ILT.  They can add it to their shopping cart, choose a session and checkout.

Hope this helps
