Hi there,

does your organization already have a strong practice of Microlearning implementation?

We are in the middle of creating a designated spot for microlearning on our platform and any best practices or leassons learned would be much appreciated! :)

Great question! We haven't fully implemented a dedicated Microlearning strategy in our organization yet, but it's definitely on our radar — so I've been thinking a lot about the direction.

From what I've explored so far, Channels seems to be the most advanced tool Docebo currently offers for this purpose. It's built for exactly this kind of curated, bite-sized content experience, and I think it should be the foundation of any Microlearning approach on the platform.

One direction I'm really excited about is combining Channels with Harmony AI Chat. Imagine a learner asking a question and the AI surfacing the most relevant micro-content right when they need it — that's a powerful just-in-time learning experience that could take Microlearning to the next level.

A few general best practices I'd keep in mind:

  • Keep each asset focused on a single concept — ideally 3-5 minutes max
  • Curate intentionally — don't just upload everything; build a meaningful content flow
  • Encourage social engagement — likes, comments, and shares on Channels can drive adoption more than you'd expect

Would love to hear what others in the community have tried as well!

Quick question about this as we’re just leaning in more to microlearning and channels too, plus have been keeping an eye on the Harmony functionality. Do you (or does anyone else) know whether you can you limit the Harmony AI chat so it only takes its answers from a certain place(e.g. a channel, or number of channels or catalogues?

Harmony Search does give you some level of control over what it draws from, though not quite down to specific channels.

Here's how the scoping works today:

Two key settings (Admin Menu → Artificial Intelligence → Manage):

  1. "Allow catalog content in responses" — When enabled, Harmony can pull answers from free courses and learning plans available for self-enrollment, even if the learner isn't enrolled yet. When disabled, it restricts responses strictly to courses/LPs the user is actively enrolled in. This is probably the most relevant toggle for your use case.
  2. "Allow general AI knowledge in responses" — When enabled, Harmony can fall back to its general training data if it can't find an answer in your platform content. When disabled, it's restricted to your indexed platform content only.

On top of that, Harmony automatically respects user visibility — learners will only get answers based on content they have access to. So if you scope channel or catalog visibility tightly through branches/groups, Harmony will follow those same boundaries.

The short answer to your specific question: You can't currently point Harmony at a specific channel or set of channels and say "only answer from these." But you can control the scope by combining enrollment rules, catalog visibility settings, and the two toggles above to get fairly close to what you're looking for.

I'd keep an eye on the Harmony Search documentation and the AI settings page — Docebo has been rolling out Harmony improvements progressively, so more granular scoping might be on the roadmap.

Morning @v.hrabcuk from the East Coast of the US,

We have pushed microlearning in the past to act in support of communicating an initiative at our organization (I think of them as “project-related-public-service-announcements”) and with those that need their hands slapped for failing a cybersecurity phishing simulation.

We have not use them in any lengthy campaigns or training strategy just yet - but it remains on our radar as an approach and even a potential equivalent for more “lengthier” training. We have been considering the completion of a learning plan of microlearnings that unlock on a regular frequency to act as an equivalent for a compliance course for example.

Microlearning can bring to the table some challenges (for example - subject matter experts will question impact and the spreading out of learning versus doing it all at once). I think this platform can support intriguing approaches that can help you achieve “short dose high frequency campaigns”.

When you dive into microlearning itself @Moshe.Machlav begins to pick up on more about the delivery. I have seen folks want to categorize microlearning using duration, but I do think it comes back to basic instructional design questions to better support the learning is what counts. “Read-and-signs or Watch-and-signs” don't sit well with me. Even a quick knowledge check or interaction is better than that 😉.

But I digress to wave at the edge without going down that rabbit hole. Hope that helps.

We use the Assets in  Discover Coach and Share and assign them to a channel in our micro-learning library. They’re bit sized videos or guides, with the idea a learner could get a quick understanding or reference on a topic. Content is divided by general topic. We have the channels permissioned accordingly as well. They can go to the library page and search content there, or they can use the Global Search and navigate to the tab for asset content.

We don’t use courses in ours, because our business model requires manager approval for enrollment, and there’s no way to have courses show in channels unless they don’t require approval or the person is already enrolled.

We haven’t yet explored Harmony search.

I hope that helps!

We use Channels to house curated microlearning, divided by topic. We started out with one page, but found over time that there was a lot of content to load to try to find the topic you are looking for. We have since created separate pages for larger categories. E.g., a systems page that houses 2-5 minute videos on a systems process for people who need a refresher on a small piece of a larger process, or a personal development page for time management, leadership, and dealing with stress microlearning. Our employees can upload an asset they have discovered into a specific channel, which requires an administrator to vet and approve. We include ‘Search Tags’ (keywords) in our descriptions so they appear when employees use the general search bar.
