Has anyone else found that the Insights Dashboards creation and use process is extremely slow?  I’m wondering if there are any recommendations for speeding up this process. I’m finding it very difficult to use (to be diplomatic).

It is quite slow for us as well, it takes time for it to pull all that data. I do wonder if the Advanced (ie paid) version is faster...

Same experience here. I usually open in a separate window and let it run, while I work on other stuff. It will drive me crazy if I have to look at the screen while it process. I feel the pain…

Yep, we have experienced the same since it was launched. Very slow load times, general data lag, stopped using the tool entirely a while back.

Me three!
Super slow even with minor data in the filters.

Reduces the user experience quite a lot unfortunately.

This is what I do too. It really depends on the size of the file. I have some that load in a minute or two, I’ve had others that take upwards of 10 minutes to run.

@JKolodner - morning. We dont use it yet - the performance felt unacceptable when it came out last year for our shop. If anything, we would use it for snapshots of data, but waiting for rendering is not a great look for any “modern dashboard”.

Thank you for raising this up. I am a partner managing multiple clients using Docebo and I hear almost all of them complaining about how slow it is to load the data in Insights, especially those who have more than 5000 employees. It is frustrating for them because they really want to use Insights to replace Power BI when doing analysis, but the delay in getting the data dampens their effort.

Really looking forward to suggestions or maybe an improvement on the performance?

Hello,

If the power user has visibility to over 200k users, Insights will not work due to known limitation. If dashboards are left “wide open” with no filters, it will take a long time to load depending on the amount of data and widgets on the dashboard.

Best practices:

  • Limit the power user to only the users/branch(s) they need within the power user resource settings. Anything in excess will slow down Insights.
  • Use and save filters for each of the Insights dashboards. That way when a power user opens one up, it is already pre-filtered to exactly the intention of the dashboard. This means you may need to create more dashboards pre-targeting what info is needed.
  •  Limit the total amount of widgets on each dashboard. Instead of providing everything and the kitchen sink in one dashboard - create smaller, more targeted dashboards with only the need to have.

All said, I agree the performance is slow. We cannot use Insights at all due to our power users having and needing visibility to over 200k users.

The paid version of Advanced Insights does not improve performance. It is still all pulling from the same database, the same way. It just provides more advanced capabilities, similar to Power BI.

Hope this helps.
