Background: My company issues a certification (right to use a product) after an educational course + test. The customer must pass the test to receive the certification.

It seems that all scenarios in Docebo are based on the learner taking the course, not passing the test. How can we set up a Certification based on the course + test score?

Bonus question: is there a way to put a certification number in the learner’s profile. Not on a certificate, in the profile.

You could do a learning plan with the course then the exam, and make the course(s) a prereq to accessing and taking the exam. Once the exam is completed with a passing score the certification is achieved.

Thanks for the suggestion. Trying that. However, at first blush the settings and prereqs in the course and test were ignored. I tested and I could go to the test without completing the course.  I did verify settings before setting up the Learning Plan. The same thing happened with Certification. Certification was provided before the quiz. Ugh.

It makes no sense to me why any instructor would issue a certification or learning plan without testing?  Why aren’t tests just incorporated as an element that can be added?

We have the same model as yours and we use certification ID numbers as well. We created an additional user field for the number. You can then show this additional field in the “My Profile” widget on your homepage and in the My Activities page. You can also show it on your Docebo-generated certificates.

For the courses, you need to set up a test and have it be the end object marker so once they pass the test, they will be considered as having passed the course.

I use the same model as described above: When a person registers for a course with a certification, they are enrolled into a learning plan that includes the course and the exam. There is a prerequisite set which requires the course being completed prior to gaining access to the exam. I can go into specific details because it took a little tweaking to get it exactly right but it works fine.
