Did you end up going with ActivePresenter and Saolo Animate 3?
Those tools are on my radar too, and I would love to hear your thoughts about them, especially if you ended up moving forward with them.
@Sarahh - Yes I did
Not long after this post I ended up pulling the trigger. I acquired both ActivePresenter (AP) and Saola Animate last year during the Black Friday sale for my personal use.
It took a little longer to run thru all the channels at work in order to make the switch there but I am now moving forward on AP.
I realize that every situation is different in terms of workflow and company/client requirements but I felt that AP fit my workflow perfectly. I started with the trial and worked on trying to recreate some old Captivate projects and was able to do that pretty easily.
I highly value developmental freedom and flexibility. I also do a fair amount of JavaScript work to enhance some projects and AP has a much better built-in editor that can be resized and has line numbers. Documentation is fantastic - it has a manual that is 483 pages and can be pulled up within the tool. Community support is way better than the Adobe community. It is not to the level of the Articulate community but staff is very active and helpful with anything you have questions about.
My personal transition to the new tool was almost seamless.
The free trial is endless so you have lots of time to test it - I really appreciated that too.
Your stuff will just be watermarked.
Although I did pick up Saola - I have not started playing with it yet.
I’m excited to hear about the built-in code editor with ActivePresenter, our current eAuthoring tool doesn’t support custom code at all, so this is great news to me.

This is great - I recently trialed Articulate tools and found their trial too short to really dig in.Â
I’m going to move forward with the AP trial to see if it would fit my workflow, thank you for sharing your thoughts! It was extremely helpful.
@Sarahh - glad to hear it.
I am pretty active in the AP community as well. Don’t hesitate to ask any questions you have there.
