"Chatty LMS Syndrome"? Or Less is More?

I have always been worried about a system that is too chatty.When I came to work for my current org? I found that the one largest learning system instance had a user enrolled notification was essentially set on full blast with all courses triggering notifications (that I eventually helped to shut down). To many it felt horrible, if you enrolled yourself, you got an email. If someone else enrolled you? You got an email. If the course was part of a learning plan?? A person got two or more emails. Working at places 10X the size of where I am currently at makes me know that larger organizations dont stand for it and will even cap system notifications if they seem like they are being spoofed.IMHO - that's not the way to configure things. I truly believe in the mantra that “less is more”. It is more powerful when you deploy targeted notifications to campaigns and onboarding programs. This paired with protecting the function of a manager to have an option to deploy a notification to only thei

Why are all labels now showing in Sentence Case?

With the latest updates, we found that all labels have been changed to sentence case...is there a reason for this? Will this be fixed at a later time?@erin.brisson Any thoughts?

When US policy impacts our shop

I just read that….Meta said it was scrapping its diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) efforts due to a "shifting legal and policy landscape"….which invariably has an impact in our domains as other big companies get on board with this.I have survived waves of change by staying closer to the compliance and onboarding sides of training and learning. But I believe that we should hold onto our hats for the next few. Waves are going to get choppy and rougher to ride out.Let me know what you think.

Closed caption solution

Hi all,I was just wondering if anyone has found an accurate and cost-effective solution for creating closed captions for videos. We’d like to add closed captions to all our English videos to improve accessibility and help non-native speakers understand them. LMS badges- KPI's - what are you measuring with them

Hi All,We are looking at starting to use the LMS badges with gamification and I was wondering if anybody measures the sucess of using the badges? If so, what metrics are you using and is it working? Are you using them for course completion, visibility(if sharing to social media) motivation etc.Thanks!

Central Repository Folders vs. Course catalog categories.

We are seeing that the folders we create in the central repository are visible and selectable in the full course catalog to filter classes. We want to use a folder structure in the repository that makes sense to power users but may not have a direct relationship to course sorting. Example- sub folders within topic Folders called Presentations, drawings, evaluations Is there any way to separate these? Or what are the ramifications of turning categories off for catalogs?

Duplicate Subscription Purchases

Our company offers product training subscriptions to our customers and partners and we are in the process of implementing PayPal to enable self-serve purchasing. We discovered through testing that a user is able to purchase a subscription plan multiple times which puts both us and our customers as risk of losing revenue, increased administrative tasks and an unpleasant experience for both sides. Ideally, when a user purchases a limited time subscription, they should not be able to re-purchase the same item until the initial subscription expires. The system should alert them they are already enrolled in an active subscription and not allow them to proceed with adding it to their cart.Overall, I think subscriptions need a little more love! They are a very useful tool for our company to help our customers get access to the training they need with little friction.

List of external links

Hi All, we are looking to add a list of frequently used external links onto our homepage. Has anyone done this and if so how? I tried to add a custom content box, however it requires an image and that is more than we are looking for. Thanks in advance for your help!

Error - Sign in not possible

Is anyone else getting this error consistently when they try to log on? We are having 10+ users a day getting this error even if it is the first time trying to log on for the day. Usually clearing cache and cookies fixes the issue, but that is no longer working. I have confirmed that the accounts are not locked. Is there something I am missing here?

Exploring New Tools

I have recently had placed on my radar a couple of products that seem extremely promising.ActivePresenter and Saolo Animate 3ActivePresenter seems like the perfect mix of PowerPoint, Captivate, and Camtasia all wrapped into one.Reasonable pricing (perpetual) too.I am just doing the trial at this point so I haven’t learned a great deal so I am curious if anyone here has used these for full-time production work and what your thoughts are.

Best way to set up a monthly training series

Hello! I’m setting up a monthly leadership training series. The trainings will be once a month, starting in January and completing in December. Team Members will be able to self enroll in the events they want to attend. This means, they could come to January, but don’t have to come in February. We don’t have the set dates for February - December. Which do you feel is the best way to set up this training series:We set it up as 1 ILT per Month (January is one course, February is one course, etc.)  We set it up as 1 ILT for the whole year, setting up each month as their own session, just not setting a date until it’s scheduled. Only issue I’m seeing with this is how would we allow them to be enrolled in all sessions. Would this be something we’d have to manage at the admin level? Or is there another way we can do this?Also open to additional ideas or best practices for how to set this up so that it is the best experience possible for our end users. Thank you in advance!

Hidden But Searchable Text in Course Description

Hello Community! I’m trying to find a way to lift certain courses in search results using text in their description. The thing is I don’t want the text to be visible as part of the description because the search will be for a specific subset of learners and doesn’t really describe the content.For example, I want the course Snowflake 101 to be searchable with the term “Build - Acme IT” but I don’t want to have “Build - Acme IT” in the readable part of the description. Does anyone have thoughts about how to make that happen. The use case behind it is letting managers in a specific group search by their group’s terms and letting them see results based on those terms vs. everything they might get back if they searched “Snowflake.” I’m open to suggestion beyond a course’s description to lift it in the results, but we have tags turned off as something that’s searchable for multiple reasons, so that’s not on the table.

Anyone using the new Adobe Captivate?

Am I crazy in thinking that the subscription/cost model is that much better than many other tools?I just looked at their price model for the New Adobe Captivate - not the older version….And at 34$ a month - to subscribe to it - it may warrant a much deeper dive at it. Just curious.FYI - I have used the original Captivate since it was a tool generated by Macromedia and it was a rebranding of Robodemo right up and through 2020 so I know the other side of Captivate.

Seeking Input on Learning Plan Reset Process

Hi everyone,This is our first full year in Docebo, and my team’s first time going through a Learning Plan reset. I have a plan and have been testing it in Sandbox, but I’m worried I’m overlooking something and will find out what it is the painful way. For those of you who have lived through this process, can you review my proposed plan and poke holes in it? Overview:We have several divisions in our company, and each has multiple Learning Plans for their different service lines. In total, I’d say we have at least 100 Learning Plans (including new hire learning plans and annual), and each one has very complicated enrollment groups/rules that I don’t want to have to tinker with. Some of our courses are on multiple learning plans with equivalences, so I’m also concerned about making sure I’m doing those steps in the best order so that the enrollment status is correct.Our Subject Matter experts are mostly keeping their plans the same, but we are probably replacing/adding around 30-40 course

Are you using on demand labs? Need Recommendations

Wanted to put the call out to the community to see if anyone else was using third party companies for on-demand labs?Use Case: We are a software company, and we would like to host sandbox versions of our products, and allow our learners to access these sandbox areas so they can practice with our products.  Ideally, these would be labs that can be accessed from an e-learning course, so that there is no manual set up of a lab for each individual learner.Has anyone successfully accomplished this? We have been looking at Ready tech and Strigo, but if there are other providers out there that you have all had success with, I would love to hear about it!

Leaderboard by Branch

Hello, We are coming close to our annual trainings for the entire company and I hit a roadblock when setting up badges, leaderboard, and contest because I do not see any option to show by branches instead of individually. Is there an option using these three options to show which Branch completed all their Annual trainings first, second, third, etc. Thank you!

CSS Master Guide – how to target the right .class and #id

I am curious - for those of you who do lots of CSS customization - how do you go about finding out the right  .class  and  #id  to target?Are most people…doing some investigative work with the browser console/inspect features using some sort of master reference guide out there someplace sifting through linked stylesheets contacting Docebo tech support doing Jedi mind tricks using some other cool methodI have currently relied heavily on #1 above for the little I have done so far but would be open to studying a well commented, prettified reference guide… #2

Fast forward until last point watched in a video? Authoring tools or video player

I posted an idea for the course player here, but am looking for a solution in the meantime.We’re looking for a way to allow learners to fast forward only up to the last point they've viewed in a video. This would let them rewind during their first viewing to review any sections they may not have fully understood, but prevent them from skipping ahead through the entire video.Once they’ve watched the full video, they should be able to navigate freely, especially for review purposes after completing the video or course.This isn’t supported by Docebo’s new course player, but we've seen it’s possible in Flowsparks authoring tools. We’ve also heard it’s not possible in Articulate.Questions to the community1) Any suggestions on how to implement this functionality?2) Any other tools that support it?3) Any experience/feedback on Flowsparks?​​​

Getting Details in Reporting - X completions of a course per branch

Hi all, I have a very specific ask from my director for reporting on a course and I’m trying to figure out how to deliver it.We have a certification course where we need to see how many users at a property (we are a hotel brand) have completed it. The goal is 3+, but I also need to show which have just 2 people, and which only 1. We are trying to demonstrate ROI for our training. I can of course run a completion report for the course and get a full list of users who have completed the certification. But the only way I’ve found to get more detail than that is to manually sort in Excel and color the cells and then sort by color, which takes forever. I’m going to have to produce this data monthly so I need something more automated. Do I need to figure out some Excel magic formula for this task, or is there some way in Docebo of doing this? I’m not a programmer and wouldn’t know how to, for example, dig into the API browser and write up something to parse the data the way I need (X users w

Hybrid event tools

Can anyone share their recommendations for (or against) hybrid meeting hardware? We’re going to be setting up the ability for hybrid learning events for the first time and need to shop around to find the right technology. I’ve used the meeting owl in previous jobs, but am looking to learn more about what’s out there. What’s worked for you? What hasn’t? We have ~40 employees with the majority of them being office-based. We’d like to create a more collaborative experience for hybrid meetings/trainings where everyone can both contribute and easily hear the in-person presenters. Some of our employees have laptops they can bring to a meeting location, while others are working on desktops so they’d either need to be isolated at their desk, or have a good community setup to contribute and have easy access to the content shared regardless of whether the presenter is in person or virtual. Eventually we may use this for customers as well, in which the majority of attendees would be virtual. I ha

Feedback about Custom Leaderboards

Hello Everyone! Our LMS team creates custom course completion Leaderboards on Canva. Does anyone use a 3rd party source to generate Leaderboards instead of using the Leaderboard feature within Docebo? We manually create our leaderboards, as it is more interactive than the generated Leaderboard within Docebo. Please let me know if anyone can recommend any custom Leaderboard generators.Thank you all in advance.

An audit field - looking for best practices

A general question - we are being mandated to track the why “a something happened” inside of the learning system. We supplied an audit (from the audit trail) from the learning system, but it is not something that is part of a learners profile and may be missed as part of other audits. Other systems that we have worked with in the past support adding a note to a persons profile as a type of light learning object. It was meant to not burden the administrator with needing to keep adding an additional field to reporting but was something that could be recalled on a user level - where this will probably be used the most - and not as part of their user data.In light of that learning object not really being available, I know I am talking myself into adding a field.Just checking - has anyone gone down this path? How did you implement????

Policy Attestations - Are you doing them? How?

Hey everyone, I’ve seen some talk about this in previous posts and would like to bring it up again to determine whether you’ve found a workable way for Docebo to accomplish policy attestations or have found an alternative tool for this purpose. In previous posts I saw a suggestion to use a single question test with one right answer which is quick and easy but unlikely to be useful from a legal perspective. This is our current setup and the legal weakness is why I’m on the hunt for a better solution. I have also looked into the e-signature option and while it seems a bit better it still doesn’t satisfy the need to produce a document with the attestation and some kind of signature on it. Another option and one I like the least is having manual submissions on these where a person verifies a signature and marks a person complete because this will be an enormous time sink for new and annually refreshed policies. At this point I don’t think I can give legal what they want with the LMS and gi

Does anyone have an export guide to publishing to the LMS and what test questions/responses can be gathered? SCORM 1.2 vs 2004 vs xAPI etc? I wanted to ask the community before I attempted to test RISE/Storyline files with the different published .zip files.
