We have a course that usually runs once a year which does not have any scheduled dates at the moment and we also have an admin approval process in date because of its cost.

When a user requests to be added to the waiting list for this course we are unable to trigger a notification as the course has no dates (ie is not an ILT at this stage).

Does anyone have any ideas on how to overcome this?

There’s no great way to do this. Have tried two things though:

  • Make a session that is years in the future and name it and describe it very carefuly to be clear it is not an actual session, but a waitlist that will be notified once the real time is set. This then gives you all the notification abilities. You can use the actual waitlist on the session if you set the max enrollment to 1 and make a fake user or enroll an admin on creation. Not perfect and needs lots of communication.
  • Make a standard elearning course as the above “waitlist” which users can enroll into, with  apage of content explaining the situation. Then when it is time to schedule the session, download the current enrollees and enroll them into the real session. Again, not great.
