We have a learner (and this has happened before to others) where they have renewed a training course and everything (including the completion date, reports, user summary etc) shows the new date, however the certificate (accessed through the rosette symbol) still shows an old date. 

Does anyone know why?

 

Hi @KTJD! I figure you may have discovered the answer already, but you will need to manually reset the certificate for that learner. You can read how in this guide:
