Hi Everyone

Is it possible to set up a course expired notification that automatically goes out on a monthly basis until the course has been completed?

Many thanks

Thanks.  I have set up a notification to go out 30 days after the event but didn’t realise this would continue to be sent out every 30 days until the course is completed.

yes that’s correct..there is no “end date” for the notifications...the trigger that stops them from going out is for the user to complete the course…

you could conceivably turn off the notifications and then run them once a month but not quite sure what the effect would be nor if you want to get into managing this manually

Sure thing...just set your reminders to go out every 30 days. They will pick up on the users “due date” and send the email 30 days before (and/or after) that date.

I feel like a moron with this. You are saying we can use a weekly nudger from a single course is not completed notification? I though that it was being set for a single point in time.

@dklinger if you want reminders to go out at different times (e.g. 30 days before the due date, 15 days before, etc.) you need to create 1 notification for each reminder window..so if you want 3 reminders at different times, you need to create 3 separate reminders...I Iike the Course Expiry template as it allows you to send before and/or after the due date. Only gap is it cannot send on the due date...only the Learner has yet to complete a course can do that

@lrnlab - first and foremost thanks for the conversation.

I get what you are saying. But you dont set one to go out and it will ping every thirty days….which is the advice I believe you dropped above. There isn’t a setting for “every” thirty days with the course notification. There is a setting for a count of days before or after...but not every. The only every I know about are the digests that help us achieve something like that.

@dklinger it WILL send a every 30 days if the course is not yet completed...ok semantics for the word “every”

@lrnlab Am I reading this right? If I set this notification to go out say 3 days after the event, it will go EVERY 3 days vs just 3 days after the deadline? This seems to contradict how I read what’s in the knowledgebase, so I want to make sure I am not misunderstanding.

Hi all, I was rereading my posts and I think somewhere I got things confused. I went back to research the notification events and it is you say @dklinger, they will not continue to go out as the “event” is a point in time that doesn't change (whether based on enrolment date for the “Learner has yet to complete a course” or the due date, for the “Course has expired” templates).

My apologies for any confusion here...

Thank you for the clarification, @lrnlab ! @SarahBee How did you set up your recurring reminders?

@laraeps you can create copies with the different settings...1 for 30 days, 1 for 60 days, etc.
