Hello,

It was brought to my attention that one of our eLearning courses (SCORM) did not save a learner’s progress. She completed about 50% of the course before taking a break. When she came back, she was taken to the beginning and none of her progress was saved.

When I enrolled in the course and tested it out, I was able to recreate the issue if I closed the internet browser (red #2 in image below). Course progress was saved if I clicked the green #1 in the image below. I did not try by closing only the tab.

We are using the stand-alone mode for all SCORM packages.

To save progress, must the user click the x near the green #1? If so, that is NOT intuitive or user-friendly.

Thank you in advance!

You might need to review your tracking in your course package...have you tried using the default inline view for the course? Loss of tracking data is usually something to do with the session connections so closing the course with the built in “X” makes sense that it would track properly vs closing the browser all together.

Hi Irnlab,

We have not tried the inline view, just the stand-alone and theater mode (we started with that, but had issues). Hoping there is another solution, as we have over 70 SCORM based eLearning courses and updating them all is really tedious.

What version of SCORM are you using? Depending on your tracking needs, you can use 1.2 for a more stable connection or 2004 3rd Ed. for more data collection...If you only need to be able to bookmark, you can also look at AICC which is one of the simplest but more reliable; it only tracks pass or fail, no test data though.

Troubleshooting dropped connections is not easy so make sure you rule out things like the use of VPNs, internet vs intranet, browser type, user habits, etc.

We use SCORM 1.2

I will reach out to the user and see if they were on a VPN and their browser type. We launched Docebo at the beginning of the month and this is the first we’ve heard of this issue, so I’m hoping it is an isolated incident. I really appreciate your help!
