New course player - retake this course

We have spotted a problem in the new course player (not sure if anyone else has already raised this).  We have a number of e-learning courses that are mandatory and require renewal every X years.

The new ‘Retake this course’ button in the course player allows people to do the course without it registering their new attempt, or their completion (resulting in in their renewal date not changing).

The ‘renew this course doesn't look like a button and blends in with the banner.  so our staff will miss this.

Can we remove/disable this button.

Help!

This will cause a real issue for us as we have a number of courses subject to renewal/recertification and already have problems with staff not following the correct process when renewing their certifications.

I’m not sure what the point of the button is, if it doesn’t register their new attempt?

Disappointed there is no solution here.  This is going to cause some many issues.  our biggest support ticket is people saying their course completion hasnt registered.  this is only going to add to the problem.

@KTJD - good morning from the east coast - a question for you - is this only with courses that are part of certifications?

The button exists for elearning in general.  So it kinda makes sense if there is no certification renewal, but for courses that do have a renewal requirement then it is a pain as clicking it doesn't reset the certification, but equally if you complete the e-learning it doesn't register the completion.  

We have had to use the localisation tool to rename it, but its not an ideal solution.

I saw on a recent product update that updates are coming to certification renewals and that in the future, it won’t let the user recertify at all (like won’t have any way to retake the course) if it is not within their certification window. We’ve encountered this issue since November 2023 when we re-implemented certifications. We have to go in and manually update their certification because they either didn’t renew it properly, or renewed it too early.
