I am having an issue allowing a Power User to create, edit, and manage certificates associated with their courses.

I have given the Power User permission to View and Edit certificates. However when they try to create a new certificate it does not appear for them in the Certificate Templates list, though I and other Super Users can see it. Also if I create a certificate template for them and assign it to their course, it still does not appear in the Certificate Templates list from their view.

you probably need to assign it to a course they have access to in oder for them to see it...similar to assigning Categories. You can create a test course they have access to and add the new cert there...

Thanks @lrnlab, I have tried doing that. The Power User can see that the course is assigned but they can’t see the template in the Certificate Template list. I would like the Power User to be able to edit the certificate.

Hi there, just tested and can confirm that when a PU creates a cert, it is not visible to them. So here’s what I found…

  • Allow the PU to create a cert
  • As a superadmin, assign the cert to a test course
  • Then, enrol the PU in the test course and mark them “Complete” (this will generate the cert for your PU)
  • Once done, the PU can then see and edit the cert under the Certificate Templates app

Very odd way to get around this but it’s the strange way some permissions are mangled in Docebo. Give it a try and hopefully this will work for you as well.

And just found a much simpler way if you don't mind your PU’s seeing ALL certificates…

In your PU role permissions, if you've sleeted “All permissions” for the Certificates section, this is actually part of your issue. The “all permissions” includes once that restricts access to view only the certs attached to courses the PU can see and manage. If you remove this permission, the PU can see ALL the certs regardless of who created them and where they are being used…

I guess you have a choice now…
