Thank you to everyone who attended our February 2024 Release Readiness webinar. If you missed it, you can catch it here on demand.

Also, be sure to check out the February 2024 Release Roundup for everything you need for this release!

We received many questions during the live event that we answered live, however, below are the ones that pertain to this release that we weren’t able to answer during the live session:

Q. Can we prevent archived courses appearing on searches, even though the users may have to still be enrolled on them after completion for auditing purposes?

  1. At this time, the functionality you are describing is not within the scope of what was delivered in this feature release. We have plans in the future to further enhance global search and we will share more information when it becomes available.

Q. Can these search settings be set per domain for extended enterprise?

  1. The same content viewing rules/restrictions associated with your user’s extended enterprise will apply to the content that is visible in the search. Same as before. E.g. If content is only visible to a branch that a learner does not belong to, it will not appear in their search results.

Q. Do you have to have the new UX in order for this to be applicable, or can this be found in the classic view as well?

  1. All features released and discussed in this webinar can be utilized in the current user experience.

Q. Will the global search return courses that users are not enrolled in and do not have visibility to?

  1. If you configure the search results to only show “My courses and Learning plans” then the results for that user will only show courses in which they are enrolled. This feature release does not change the search results themselves, it just gives admins the ability to configure how the search results are hidden/displayed.

Q. Is this a platform-wide setting or can different settings be applied to the different domains of extended enterprise?

  1. The same content viewing rules/restrictions associated with your user’s extended enterprise will apply to the content that is visible in the search. Same as before. E.g. If content is only visible to a branch that a learner does not belong to, it will not appear in their search results.

Q. Can you change the order of the search results? We’re having an issue where ILTs are appearing quite far down the list because you can’t tag IT courses!

  1. At this time, the functionality you are describing is not within the scope of what was delivered in this feature release. We have plans in the future to further enhance global search and we will share more information when it becomes available.

Q. If I hide the training material from the search, can I still search a tag associated with it and it will pull up the course that the material is in?

  1. Yes, the course to which a searched training material belongs will appear when searched.

Q. Are these AI Content settings about the AI-driven Channels or is this a general thing?

  1. Tags generated from the AI recommendation engine can be controlled and disabled in the AI control panel, yes. The AI control panel however, is the general control center for all AI platform functionalities.

Q. Can recommendations be turned on/off at the course level?

  1. Not currently, only the recommendation engine as a whole.

Q. Is the created by field manually editable? we have people create content, but only a few upload it.

  1. No, it's not editable. The course creator info is taken from the DB and reflects the user who first created the course shell. It doesn't reflect who uploaded the content. If you would like to know who created a training material, the central repository can be used to address this need.

Q. Does the created by field allow the course creator to view that course in course management to be able to test etc?

  1. If the course creator (admin) filters by “course creator” for his/herself then yes the list of courses shown will be just the ones they created and they can interact with those courses. If the creator is not enabled as an admin or power user then the field will not be of value to them.

Q. When we will be able to add LTI into an ILT course?

  1. This is current functionality, today you can push from CLOR an LTI 1.3 TM into an ILT course.

Q. Do you choose the course creator from the user table?

  1. The course creator shown in the course management is the user who first hit "create" in the course creation right panel.

Q. Can the Created By column be part of the default columns in Course Management. If I do it in the Course Management view, it reverts to default. Is there a way to set as a default for all?

  1. At this time, the functionality you are describing is not within the scope of what was delivered in this feature release. We have plans in the future to further enhance global search and we will share more information when it becomes available. Additionally The current behavior for course management columns is that the view settings are set for the duration of the session, but it doesn't “remember”  if you log out and in again. An enhancement of that nature would impact all columns and not just the course creator column. Appreciate the feedback in this area and it has been noted.

That’s all the questions. Thanks to everyone who attended this session and asked a question.
