Report on Course Description

Does anyone have an answer to this one? I need a report of courses and their descriptions. How do I get that? Please tell me I don’t have to look at them one by one.

So in the long term there’s a few ideas and a product feedback thread that just closed related to course metadata exports that should help solve this. Short run, I grab this via api.

​@cmartinez2024 Yes - the course details export from the course management page now includes the course description, it is one of the options when Managing courses with mass actions

​@Tracy O yes, but the exported content is not useable immediately and requires quite a bit of clean up. It seems to me that the simple request of adding “course description” as a selectable field in any course reports is a basic expectation.  Any sort of reporting should be centralized in the reporting app/page and should include the option to filter on any of the fields listed in the course set up. 

The course details from the course management export cuts off after a number of characters, making it useless for us. We are in need of this. Chat tells us to put it in Ideas Portal as if it’s a surprise to them that it doesn’t work. There’s no way we’re the only ones who need this.

This should be a canned report, very basic request here. We get asked on a regular basis what courses certain users should take based on their duties and the easiest way for a Power User to make that determination would be to browse a PDF with course name and description.
