In doing some testing, I realize that if we have a learner that gets access to a URL (not auto enrollment link, just the learning plan URL) and they are not logged in, they get directed to the homepage. It drops the URL they came in on, and it doesn’t take them to the content that they were trying to access to begin with. I don’t feel like the system used to work this way. Here’s the flow -

  • Learner clicks on a Docebo link
  • Learner realizes they are not logged in
  • Learner clicks SSO button
  • Learner gets logged in
  • Learner is directed to landing page
  • Learner has to go back and try to dig out the URL they were provided and hope they get to the education they intended to take to begin with

So far this behavior happens consistently with:

  • Courses
  • Learning Plans

Does not drop:

  • Catalog URLs
  • Page URLs

Learners are already frustrated they have to relog in since the token doesn’t carry over from the other system they typical come from, needing to reclick the SSO button. Dropping the URL is the new frustration and I’m hopping it’s an advanced setting somewhere I just don’t have ticked. Any thoughts?

Tried using URL’s from catalogue searches and from a user profile where they are enrolled and both worked as expected to bring the user to that asset, even without SSO and using manual login.

Perhaps this occurs when the user does not have access to the asset in the shared URL?

They’re enrolled, they just weren’t logged in when they clicked the link. It’s strange, I tested both LP and Courses and they work the same if I’m not logged in.

hard to say with our seeing your URL but it shouldn't be that complicated…

I tried sharing a link from a user’s course where they are enrolled and another from the catalogue and links look the same - this was done purposely by DOcebo to avoid this exact issue...if you cannot solve it, perhaps open a ticket with support to ask for some assistance.

Yes once they’re logged in, it’s not an issue. It’s just if they aren’t logged in it’s like Docebo defaults to the landing page set in the menu not the course that they clicked to get to Docebo to begin with. I’ll log a ticket, this just doesn’t seem like “it’s designed this way”. Once we moved to a universal URL everything has been working better in terms of catalog visibility and link sharing, but what I’m seeing is if the experience has timed out (3 hours) and they have to log back in the link drops.
