🎶 Oh, the weather outside is frightful (I am in Canada)
But the fire is so delightful (Don’t worry, it is a soy candle, I don’t want to upset anyone)
Since we've no place to go (I work remote)
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow… (until Jan 1 only please, then no more) 🎶
It’s officially the holiday season. There are parties (maybe a little smaller, maybe on Zoom), there’s shopping (let's do what we can for the economy), and there’s lots of food . I love this time of year! It’s a time to see family and friends, do a little reflecting and it can be an opportunity to reset. As another year comes to an end, I find myself thinking, “Next year, I’ll make sure I take the time to…” minsert any number of things from eat healthier, exercise, read etc.].
Well, today, I decided not to wait. What’s so great about January 1st? I’ll spare you the (long) list of items I’m going to do this New Year, but thought I’d share a really important one that I’m taking action on now; focus more on growth and development, that’s right… learning! Convenient since I work at Docebo . But regardless of where you work and what you thought when you walked out of your last educational institution for the final time, learning is ongoing. Frankly, it makes the difference between knowing, growing and/or finding yourself…well irrelevant. Ouch, harsh! But you understand, you’re my people.
In a previous life, I often heard, “I just don’t have time to take the training or work on my own development.” And I would often answer, “It matters—make the time.” Yet, here I am not making the time.
So, will you join me in making the time? In fact, I challenge you to make the time! Who’s with me?!
I know, it’s the end of year and we’re all busy, but I also know we can do it.
Here’s the challenge (if you choose to accept it):
Opt in, you deserve it!
Resolve to:
-
Read a book
-
Catch up on your favorite blog
-
Listen to a Podcast
-
Take an online course
-
Finally get through that fancy magazine on your desk that you know makes you look really smart (Thank you HBR)
Share with us!
We can keep you accountable. Plus, I’m a sucker for recommendations and I am fairly confident you have a few good ones up your sleeves. We can all grow together!
Share with others!
Give the gift of learning to someone else. Pass on what you learned, lend the book, share the Podcast and remind them they, too, need to take the time.
Get in on the action! ⬇️⬇️⬇️ Do it for yourself. I’ll even start by challenging a few other Docebians to join in (
