I’m looking for ideas, and possibly to connect with other team to learn how you manage on-site New Hire Orientation globally?

We have previously conducted New Hire Orientation at our headquarters only, and remotely for all other locations and global offices. During Covid, we moved all NHO to remote, and have continued to do so in the past couple of years.

We now have a directive to return to New Hire Orientation on-site, but now the desire is to provide an on-site NHO presence at all global offices (we have 16 of them). Our challenge is that we are a team of 6 talent development professionals, covering only 3 of the global offices.

I am seeking to learn how others might be handling a similar methodology. Are you using a blended solution (e.g., On-site first day + remote second or later), what staff are you leveraging to conduct training where you do not have professional facilitator coverage, what topics are you covering, what innovative activities are you using to make it more engaging?

Please feel free to DM me, or respond in this space. TIA!

Hi - at one point - we were looking at variants and ways to support a move of a centralized training to a decentralized standpoint. The centralized training was a big thing for us back in 2016. Almost 8 years later and the workplace shifted significantly.

We came close to a hybrid model - where a local rep at each site supported some basic setup of a conference room and would help to facilitate Q&A as well as answer local shop questions like

  • where can I find
  • ….whats the best pizza around here
  • ….quickest way to the subway.

There are downsides with this approach - and because of a lack of standardization that this version

of a hybrid model did not come to a full presentation format. The old workplace has quite a few ambulatory environments and therefore depending on the shop? The setup varies - some stand up a more formal day 2 and centralize the discussion. Some rely on Manager > Employee or Mentor > Mentee training.

Our reality shifted dramatically with the pandemic. And I was a key part of a team to help make a multi phase approach on improving from 100% virtual to hybrid. I left you a DM. Let me know if you want to discuss.
