Can a manager field have multiple values? (For example, if I need to create a user who reports to both Cookie Monster and Elmo.)
It doesn’t seem like it’s possible to do this, but I wondered if maybe I’m just using the wrong separator?

Yes you can create a new Manager Type and then assign a second manager to a single user. Keep in mind that the secondary manager does not have the exact same permissions as a Direct Manager but they can still do a lot
