I am looking for a way for learners to see their overall score (like admins can see in the “Score” column on the enrollment tab) for a course that includes multiple tests and the score is the sum.

I have a course shell that includes 3 separate tests (so that we can analyze data for three different categories of questions more easily).

  • Each test has a numerical score (in this example, one course you have to get 3 out of 4 questions right, another you have to get 5 out of 6 questions right).
  • They only have one attempt for each test as this is to gauge their knowledge.
  • In the course shell settings I have it set to calculate the final score based on the sum of all 3 tests.

I tested this and am able to see the sum score on the Enrollments tab (screenshot below - I got a 4 on the first test and a 3 on the second test, so a total of 7) but cannot figure out how the learner can see their total score in the course player.

Does anyone know of a way I can enable the learner to see their total score for the course?

Not sure if this would solve your problem...have you looked at the course scoring options? You can sum up the scores of all the objects; just not sure if that is displayed to the user at the end of the course.

Users can always see the course score from My Activities (personal summary)

Hey @lrnlab thanks for the comment! Yeah, that score option of being the sum of the training material is what I have set, I just wish it showed the score to the learner without them having to got another page ya know? But thanks for pointing out the My Activities page, that can be a good workaround for now.

@anna.messner - good morning - I am going to guess that SCORM is not a plausible approach with your scenario?

A common “slide” for authoring tools like Captivate and Storyline is a “results” slide...that shows that detail.

In short - going one step outside the box can get you to this level of detail for the learner.

Hey @dklinger thanks for the response! Unfortunately a SCORM isn’t a possibility, we wanted to use Docebo’s test feature so we can pull the data on the questions. I know we could likely do this with SCORM 2004 but we don’t have time to create a SCORM at this point. Definitely something to consider for the future as I agree it would give more insight to learners, but it is a shame that it’s not built in to Docebo’s interface to show the learner their total score.

  • Got it - good luck - yeah, three changes to the product that I believe can help:
    - a single page change to the testing feature of SHOW RESULTS does the job with what you are describing as the platform has all of “The Motts” to give this back as part of the experience.
    - a course widget that show the test score (have to say its almost crazy that there isnt one)
    - It could be an intriguing idea to allow a Docebo HTML training material to have ties back to this detail (so that we can control what that output should look like for our learners). I mention it because an implementation of what scores to show can get a little messier than not depending on how it is implemented (and your case I would imagine is one of them - where you have many assessment training materials)..

Totally agree @dklinger, any of those solutions would be welcomed! Guess I’ll need to type up a new Idea :)

For now, here’s what I’m doing:

  • Adding an HTML page as the last training material (the tests are the prereqs for getting to the HTML page) with a link to the courses tab of the My Activities page that opens in a new tab.
  • The HTML page includes instructions for learners on how to find their score on the My Activities > Courses page, what the passing score is, and next steps if they failed.
