We are currently working on developing a way to track employee skill development. A large hurdle we are having is Skills in the platform empowers and is controlled by the user rather than from the manager. We do NOT want the user to be able to impact or select there skills.

Our goal is to assign skills based on content or even external actions from the platform in order to identify individuals capable of supporting sites and projects. Additionally, we have a goal of this interacting with Workday and maybe even Dynamics in the future.

Has anyone been able to achieve employee skill tracking similar to our goal? What has worked for you? What did not work?

We are developing a similar solution, we disabled skills for users and we assigned them via API based on data coming from Workday. It requires a bit of work but it’s doable, I can DM you more details if you are interested

Similar to francesca, we explore mastering skills data with Workday but naturally, we then lose the skills functionality Docebo offers upfront - which I think was the fun bit :/

However, one of the other elements we noticed was that the job titles as part of the skill selector for a user were limited, we weren’t able to customise it which meant everyone in our firm would select the same job title, as we couldn’t differentiate between specialities. This meant we didn’t go live with this feature.
