How userful do you all find the Training Material time metric?

Seeing how diverse the time spent is? I feel like I should be looking at the median times versus bothering with any averages (because the outliars are so hugely different it will skew my results).

How do you work up your metric for a given course (if you are trying to portray the median time a user has had with the training material)?

The time I list is my calculation of the minimum recommended time commitment for finishing the material.

I think minimal is one of the keys.

I use the minimum time calculated for the learner to complete the material + 10 to 20% d(epending on the complexity of any tests).  I also monitor the training material time and number of sessions. Then across our 17,000 learners I get the averages for each course and we also look for any anomalies. (user/password sharing) or trends etc.
