1. What specific problem or challenge are you facing?*
Organizing our content in a logical way in the platform and being met with what feel like half solutions. We would like to use channels as our front-end content but they are lacking when it comes to filtering and organization compared to catalogs. Catalogs however cannot house single assets.
2. What outcome are you expecting?*
What outcome are you hoping to achieve by addressing this problem? How would solving this issue improve your experience or processes?
We would like to see mirrored functionality between catalogs and channels so that either could be used without sacrificing functionality. I would like the same level of filtering to be made available in each option so that I can have custom fields within a channel as well as categories. I would also like to have different content types available within a catalog instead of only courses and learning plans. (if assets could be added to catalogs, that would effectively solve our issues allowing for all the functionality of a catalog to be used with individual assets).
3. How will this feature impact your business and/or industry?*
Please include specifics such as time saved, cost savings, or improved efficiency. If this will help all businesses within your industry or is specific to your business, please specify.
We would have saved a TON of time working through our implementation as we wouldn’t need to consider all the pros and cons of either option, discover and implement workarounds, or change our strategy to ensure our content will be easy to find and not siloed in different delivery vehicles. Unfortunately it feels disappointing either way we choose because we are missing out of functionality of the other option. The challenge we face with trying to implement both is learner confusion of why some content is available in one place, and other content available in another. The ultimate impact will be improved learner experience and ease of finding relevant content.
