Post the apps and websites you couldn’t do without!

SnagIt - screenshots app - add pretty arrows and callouts to screenshots easily. I’ll be using this in the future to make animated gifs for tutorial courses as well (I rewrote all 100 applicable docebo user-facing KB articles as Articulate Rise Courses)

 

Logitech Spotlight for Mouse / Mouseposé - Highlight your mouse pointer and cursor position when demoing the platform. Free by logitech for pc, prettier but $10 for mac (mousepose)

 

Excel - mandatory

Illustrator or equivalent - for making page graphics

Freepik - $150/yr for fantastic royalty free vector graphics

Canva - paid canva would be a decent alternative to freepik if you don’t have adobe creative suite - includes vectors, basic image editing and even videos (I have this too but rarely use it since I have adobe suite and freepik). Can’t seem to export vectors out of it.

 

Premiere or equivalent - for video editing

SRTtoVTTsubtitleconverter.exe - free, does what it says

 

subtitlestranslator.com/en/ - translate your english subs to other languages free and in batches of up to 20

bulk file rename utility - free, mandatory - does what it says

 

notepad++ - mandatory

 

postman API app - I’m learning how to use this and it is great

 

audacity - if you do anything with audio you should have this. free.

 

AWS/S3 - free file hosting for most small cases; for large cases, your org probably has it


Excel - I think I would go screaming outta the room without Excel 🤣. Onboarding users, course shells, updates to existing accounts

Google Translate - I use it for short phrases in additional fields to expand the localization I need

Wiki - to build guides for administrators such as curricula lists, procedures, best practices. An administrator’s KB specific to my platform

JIRA tickets - for colleagues to make change requests - uploading courses, building new curricula, etc.

Docebo Community - this forum is awesome! I read EVERY question cause I want to expand my understanding of how Learn could be used. I’ve gotten several good ideas from others.

Google Translate - I use it for short phrases in additional fields to expand the localization I need

I would love an auto-google-translate option in various parts of the platform - e.g. click the languages I want to add to a page or course, and everything possible (and logical) gets translated - text boxes, title, description.


I put my wiki in as courses so it will be searchable

I’m in discussions with docebo so that Virtual Coach won’t automatically crap-out when users ask things like “how do I change my password” and will give them courses with “how do I change my password” in the description.


We use zendesk externally and asana internally as our JIRA equivalent. 


Definite overlap on what is listed, and will come as no surprise that for me:

  • SharePoint - tracking/documenting/automating
  • Power Automate - leverage API to fill gaps and automate tasks.
  • Qualtrics - build front end UI’s to add to Docebo for mini-apps.

are definitely top of mind.

Stickies from Zhorn Software to replace all the post it notes I used to stick on my monitor. I love the fact that you can set notes to wake in the future as reminders. My memory isn’t the best, so this really helps!

Adobe Express for creating simple icons/graphics etc. 

Docebo Community As @KMallette says, this is an awesome resource for learning more about Docebo.

I’m also hoping to learn how to use Illustrator and some of the other Creative Cloud apps in 2023 so I can do more of my own graphic design.

I do…..soon 🙂 I use it for things like my scheduling tools, inline support, inline feedback, etc.

I guess I am “old school” and for the moment remain unconvinced on ChatGPT. Right now - I suppose I see it as just another way for someone not to learn how to do something for themselves.


I’m not getting good output out of ChatGPT - but for someone like me, who is releasing real estate courses but doesn’t know a lot of specifics and depth about real estate, I think it has potential.

No. I never build courses in PowerPoint.

I actually find PowerPoint to be an effective tool for creating graphics that I use in Captivate.
