Deactivating notifications?

We are planning some user field updates/enrollments and don’t want notification of this to be sent out. When you deactivate a notification, how long does it need to be turned off for to skip the notification being sent?

I tested it yesterday - deactivated the notification, completed the activities, then turned the notification back on. I still received the notification, though it is scheduled to send daily at 8am. My next test will be to keep the notification off until after the scheduled time and see if it still sends the following day.

Yeah, if it is scheduled and not real time you need to wait past the time, but also remember if someone has qualified for it already it may be in the queue for the schedule already/fit the criteria so you may need to set a buffer of sorts in between off and on.

Hi @amanda.wellons turning off or deactivating a notification should be instant unless you had a large email job running where those that were already queued up would still be sent even when the notification is OFF since they were logged before you turned it off...Essentially, if no actions are done that require a notification to be sent are done until after to turn them off, you should have no issues.

Good question, @amanda.wellons. We always turn our immediately back on after making the change. We assumed that if it wasn’t on when the change was made, no one would get it, but maybe we are incorrect in our thinking.

@amanda.wellons my guess since they are scheduled, they likely get queued up during the day so it sounds like normal behaviour. Your plan is a good one.
