Reset Learning Plan progress?

We have a few use cases where we want the progress of a Learning Plan and all courses within them to be reset. I assumed by unenrolling and reenrolling a user in a Learning Plan, I could accomplish this though it didn't reset the progress. Thoughts and ideas on how to achieve (for multiple users) this are appreciated.

Another thing to consider - if the courses in the learning plan have e-learning training materials that are pushed to the Central repository, there is no way to reset their progress on the training material unless you do it from the course report for each training material for each user.  That is shared tracking, and when a user is enrolled into a new course using training materials from the central repository that were previously completed by a user, that user will still see the completion, even if those materials are in a new course/learning plan.

Like @dklinger mentioned, the feature for multiple completions of a course/training material will hopefully resolve issues like this.

You might have to re-upload the training materials and build new courses/Learning plans.

If these are e-learnings the course progress is saved even if they are unenrolled. See what happens when you go into the reports section and reset a users progress manually, then unenroll.

I kind of hope this doesn’t work for you, because it would be a LOT of manual work. You might be better off just creating a second version of the learning plan, enrolling everyone and deleting the first learning plan if you aren’t worried about historical data.

I have had to do this manually in the past. If it is everyone, you may be able to go under the courses/ enrollments/ Select all and change the progress from complete to not started.  I know there is a recertification section that we have selected for one year. I have only been on since January so i have a few months to see if that will work.

I would suggest looking into the API browser as it may be able to be accomplished there.

I have never done this but you may try to look here in your instance

So be careful.

Resets at the learning plan and course level is cool.
But my current understanding - the training material within will not be reset.

There is development going on to allow for multiple attempts at courses...it will help to make that part feel better.

And my note of being careful is what you opened with - you are seeing people with stuff still in progress.

You need to be very aware of what is happening for the learner? Because it can trigger multiple outcomes including notifications etc (as you flick on and off status).

I believe what you are finding? That is happening at the course level. My understanding? You can reset the course level status? But once the course is touched in anyway by the learner? The training material will make the content go over to its current status.

Thanks, everyone! Your feedback was very helpful. Do we know of a timeline on the multiple completions feature?

Thats a negative it is not a published detail. THere has been alot of chat about it and birds are chirping about it for 2022...but it is nothing but echoes until we hear from a developer or it hits the release notes and webinar in the community.

The progress of the LP is based on the courses that are in the LP. To reset you will need to unenroll from the LPs and of the courses, both. That means that if a user complete one of the courses they will lose their completion for the courses too.
