Question

Video and course progress bars out of sync

We are uploading Articulate Storyline xAPI files to use in Docebo. Some of the files have videos embedded. We always set our Articulate timeline to be the same duration as the video itself so that the user can click Next as soon as the video ends. Recently we’ve had users at one organization report that the course progress bar takes A LOT longer than the video so they are stuck on the screen for many minutes after the video ends while they wait for the Next button to become enabled. I have not been able to reproduce this myself, but I was able to witness it happening for an end user. Unfortunately his organization does not allow him to create HAR files so we are a bit stuck as far as troubleshooting. Has anyone else seen this? For a while I thought it must be that they were clicking away from the site once the video started to play and that caused the course progress bar to pause while the video continued to play, but that is not the case.

If it only affects some users, mu guess would be that this is connection/buffering issue.

Thank you for that lead! Do you have any idea how I might be able to test that out or verify it? I suspect I may need to pull in their IT staff.

These types of issues are usually hard to pin down...you might try asking your users to see if they can get to a stronger connection (at home vs at work) to se if the issue persists. Not sure your IT team would be able to pin this down unless they are at work and only some users are seeing this issue...perhaps they could help in that case
