Skill Management and Visibility

Forum|alt.badge.img

Hello,

Having some trouble with skills and hoping the community can help.

We have a test user that has skills they’ve set levels and target levels. When the user clicks “My Skills” from the user menu, the only learning content that shows up are courses they’re already enrolled in. We have skills tagged in course content and we thought users would be able to see suggested content based on what’s available in the platforms.

The skills are linked to the AI Based Channel “My Skills” and “My Skills” is visible to all branches and groups.

Also, I’m trying to figure out why managers don’t have access to something I saw in Docebo U. They have a note to management under My Team that says “skill targets” available.

And Docebo U shows this and I cannot find this page in any of our manager “My Team” sections:

As a default, users can only see courses they are enrolled in within a channel. If users can self-enroll in courses (this is a setting within each course), and those courses are published in channels, they will be able to see them even if they are not enrolled. In order to see those courses, enable the Show courses where users can self-enroll in channels setting in the Channels tab of the platform Advanced Settings menu. When this option is enabled, learners can filter the courses included in channels using the Show only courses in which I'm not enrolled filter in the Enrollment Status filter area. When this option is disabled, that filter is not visible.

We are working through very similar problems at the moment and trying to figure out if using skills in the platform for the same purposes as you’re describing is feasible. Following to see others’ responses!

Thank you for this - one question, if I add courses to channels, will users only see the courses if they they have those skills listed? I don’t want a channel to just be one big hodge podge of courses - that’s why we separate them into catalogs. But if they are only seeing courses within the channel based on their skills selected, that’s what we’re trying to accomplish.

Hello!

From the “My Team” page, by clicking on the team member card, you’ll land on the single-user dashboard, and, as a manager, you can suggest current level, suggest a target level, and view the details for the single skill.

Please look at this section of the KB  to ensure that “My Team” and the related dashboard are properly set up.

And I guess I’m confused now because I don’t have the ability to add content to the “My Skills” AI Based Channel. 😣

Thank you very much. I double checked and we have that feature enabled. But cannot click on individual team member cards in “My Team.” I’ve also tried to “View Skills Dashboard” from the user management menu and when I click on it, the webpage goes nowhere.

It should only show the courses if the user has those skills listed. You wouldn’t be changing anything in the channel functionality other than allowing the self-enroll courses to also appear.
