Has anyone here attempted to change the training material type for an existing course? We have an existing course where for the longest time, we only had access from the vendor to a version of the course that exists on a website, so our solution was to create a PDF document with a link to the course. Users would open the PDF then click the link to the course.

Now, we have access to a SCORM version of the course. It would be great if we could simply update the existing course with a different training material type, but it doesn’t appear that this is an option. Ideally, we would keep all of the existing course completion data but any new users going forward would access the SCORM version of the course instead of the PDF. Any recommendations?

To preserve the historical data, we just deactivate the old content (un-publish) and then add the new content...This will preserve the users status of completed and allow newly enrolled users to only see the new content.

Another way to get around this is to create a new course and then create an equivalency relationship between the old and new course. You can choose to deactivate the old course and leave on the new one in play.
