This post mentions that the permanent change over will happen in October:
As for the colors, I don’t think you can change the color scheme of the player (like that dark color), but the other colors, like the buttons and icons, those I believe are dictated by the colors you select for you platform from the Configure Branding and Look.
That would be a good idea to submit to allow us to customize the course player colors a little more!

As for changing colours, if you adept at CSS, you might be able to make some changes but I wouldn't say these would for sure stay in place when the update is applied in the fall...

Can someone provide a detailed summary of the change for the instructional designers with what is coming with the new course player and any action they may need to take with their new or existing courses
Hi everyone, I have a quick question about the new course player. When I choose to upload an image instead of using the default color, my image appears blurry. I have followed the standards, and my image dimensions are 5250px by 300px in PNG format. Can anyone help me with this issue?
