For those of you who tuned into the Sandbox post earlier this month, I did hint at something big happening this release and I’m not even going to tease you with musings.

Without further ado, let’s dive right in folks:

Update as of April 23, 2024:

Hello Everyone,

We appreciate your honest feedback on the new course player experience! We're working hard to address your concerns and make it more user-friendly.

Here's what you can expect in the upcoming releases:

  • Simpler navigation: We're streamlining navigation to get you learning faster with fewer clicks.
  • Enhanced clarity: A clearer table of contents will help you track progress and understand the flow of your training.
  • Focus on learning: We're creating a cleaner interface with less emphasis on graphics to put the learning materials front and center. Instructors will also benefit from an improved interface clarity when sessions end.
  • Familiar features return: For e-learning courses, the familiar pre-page option will be making a comeback!

We're also excited to announce a new feature coming later this year:

  • Focus Mode (December release): This optional mode minimizes distractions so you can truly delve into the content. It allows for navigation within courses and learning plans without switching between pages.

Cut-off and Early Access:

The new course player will be mandatory by the end of the year (2024). However, we encourage you to test and activate the new player at your earliest convenience. While you can still use the old player until the deadline, there will be additional features released in the coming months that won't be available on the old platform.

We'll continue to keep you updated on new features and functionality. We'll also be dedicating time in the upcoming release readiness webinar to answer any questions you may have.

Additional Notes:

During this development period, we're also fixing numerous glitches discovered internally and by clients. These fixes will further enhance the overall experience.

We look forward to your continued feedback!

New UI/UX for Course Player, Courses & Learning Plans

Community, this is BIG:  We are constantly seeking ways to address accessibility and enhance user experience, but we also recognize that it takes some of us time to get used to new perspectives and ways of doing things. We have explored this big change in a previous community post and are very excited to share that we are giving you the opportunity to preview the new UI/UX of our courses, course player, and learning plans with this release!

Note: We are going to move to the new UI/UX in the October release. So, you have 6 months to preview and get your learners acquainted with the new look and feel! (Update: October date has been pushed to June 2024).

How does this work?

As a super admin, you will be able to view a new panel which will lead you to Enter The Preview Mode of the new UI. Click on the button “ENTER THE PREVIEW MODE”

Improved Filters and Sorting Options

The best part about online shopping is that you don’t have to sort through big piles of clothes or books; everything is a few mouse clicks away before you can put things in your shopping cart. Well, what if I were to tell you that we are bringing some of that filtering and sorting magic to Docebo Content which means that you spend less time looking around for relevant courses! With this new feature you’ll see more filtering and sorting options in Content Marketplace.

You will be able to filter and sort in the following ways:

fjSt85iSNh6gIYZz2meMHYtm6lYT5etOLSpxiMtMJR09f74ClSG9zjkqLtstCLXj9-h92-JEHoSj-QhxIV7yePLX6ZxWlgSucxLDh_qvQrJEbYWw9F9BgR4n_6x5vJSSlMzUibNb2z4VIOc8VyRrwmI

A few quick notes here with this update:

  • We have added an additional filter option: for 'Already Imported' content under the Course Availability filter

  • We have removed 'Microlearning' from the Optimization filter as you can explore Durations with the new filter

  • The Filter panel on the left opens by default for visibility, allowing superadmins to hide the Filter options if needed

  • The term 'Optimization' as the header of the filter is replaced with 'Usability'

A.I. Image Selection Improvement

The magic of A.I. is to help you be more productive and give you greater flexibility to spend more time being more creative and less tactical. We get that! We are therefore focused on product enhancements that enable content creators to also enjoy the luxury of greater productivity and flexibility!

This month we have enhanced the quality of visual assets selected by A.I. while it builds new content within Shape.

What does this mean?

  • Automatically selecting the most relevant assets for a slide, leading to more engaging visuals
  • Better alignment between text and images with the Semantic Image Matching model, the feature can ensure that the selected assets are closely aligned with the input text, making the presentation more coherent and relevant

  • Integrating with more media libraries, giving your content creators access to a broader range of assets, making it easier to find the perfect image to complement the text.

Enjoy flexing those creative muscles as you build better and more engaging shapes!

Advanced Customization for Slide Layouts

Creating engaging content is top of mind for you content creators out there and we’ve worked a little customization magic on Shape so you have a little more flexibility on the size, position and color of the text and the background.

Show content

Try out the new course page!

As part of the Docebo accessibility journey, Superadmins can now preview and test the new course player as well as the revamped course and learning plan page. This revamp aims at increasing the level of compliance of Docebo Learn with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), in particular for the course player and the courses and learning plans page in catalogs (for not enrolled users) and in the My Courses and Learning Plans area (for enrolled users).

New option to retain the language selected for the mandatory pre-login steps

A new option is available in the platform Advanced Settings menu (Users tab) to set the language selected by users during the pre-login phase to read and give consent to the conditions of use as their preferred platform language. When this option is activated, it will ease the user experience since users will set the platform language with a single click. For those using the Extended Enterprise app, the same option is available for every client in the User Options tab. The option name is: Make the language selected during the pre-login mandatory steps as the user’s default language.

Enrollment additional fields for courses purchased via e-commerce

For those using enrollment additional fields in conjunction with the E-Commerce app, when you add a new mandatory field visible to learners after some users already enrolled in the courses they purchased via e-commerce, those learners will be required to fill in the new field only if they have never filled out any enrollment additional field for the same course, and they will also be prompted to fill in the other fields too. This new behavior only applies to e-learning courses sold via e-commerce.

The GET /course/v1/courses/importer_fields API no longer available

As communicated on March 13, 2023, for those using the GET /course/v1/courses/importer_fields API, please note that this endpoint is no longer available.

Go.Learn Version 5.3.0 and Branded Mobile App Version 5.3.0 are here!

In this update, a handful of minor issues have been addressed to give you a better, smoother learning experience on mobile.

Docebo Learning Impact questionnaires are completely revamped for a better user experience. Find all the information to answer questionnaires as a learner, a manager and an Instructor in the Docebo Knowledge Base.

⚠️ Heads up for Docebo Learn! Some changes coming your way

For those using the e-commerce app, starting on June 28, 2023, when a course, a session, or a learning plan listed in a pending transaction is marked as paid, the user who performed the transaction will be enrolled in the course, session or learning plan even if the whole transaction is not be marked as paid.

@Adam Ballhaussen There were a lot of unanswered questions from yesterday’s session. Where will we see the answers to those questions?  I’m especially interested in how the Learn updates will apply for extended enterprise instances.  Thank you!

I was SUPER excited that the course URL issue is being addressed/fixed finally!  However, I did find that it is tied to the new Course Player updates, so you have to have that enabled for the URLs to be corrected.  Unfortunately, we need a little bit of lead time to get our documentation updated before we turn on the new UI for everyone, so we will hold off on announcing this to our clients until we are ready to turn on the new player.  I am excited to see the the new UI for courses though and look forward to using it!

As @maryanneharrison mentioned, I have open questions.

Regarding the new Course player, how can I use CSS to get rid of the “Suggested content”? I am new to CSS so it is much appreciated.

Regarding the new Learning Plan player, it was mentioned that hiding the Learning Plan description was a step backwards. We use that area to provide a list of the courses, course codes and details about prerequisites. Can the default state of the details being hidden be addressed with CSS or another solution?

I did not see the Preview Mode in my settings. I see @maryanneharrison’s question above and think it might be because we are on Extended Enterprise. Is that correct? Want to give the team enough time with the change before it’s live.

Thanks!

PS is the new LP player fixed yet for existing courses?

I activated the new player in our sandbox, and the player changes are very cool. I’m looking forward to using them!

I did notice one thing, however. Playlists don’t seem to be working right. When I click on a Playlist, the first course opens, but I don’t have access to the rest of the Playlist. Has anyone else noticed this? And do we have an ETA on a fix date for that?

Thanks!

Is the UI and branding update something that is optional? Can we opt out and keep our current look if we wanted to?

I was wondering the same. From the note in the article, it looks like we have 6 months before the new UI is applied permanently.

Hi team!

Will the new experience be changing during next 6 months before the full release?

Since it’s very new experience, if we launch it for all users now and will see some gaps/issues, will there be an opportunity to change it back?

Hi @Iryna

Yes, it’s possible to activate for all users and then switch back if you need to. This is explained in the January 13, 2023 video update at the bottom of the following post (from 3:35 to 5:00 in the video).

Is the course player working now? It had an infinite loop on launch for old courses.

mgreen wrote:

Hello @mgreen Currently it’s optional, however we won’t be able to mantain two interfaces indefinitely. Currently we plan a switch to the new with the October release.

Hello @dwilburn Yes, through CSS it should be possible to hide the suggested content.

For the LP we are gathering all the feedbacks and doing reviews of them. Could you add an idea here in the community? this way we can also gather everyone opinion and see the votes. Unfortunately we cannot add more information via CSS.

Two proposals:

One/Uno | Let’s start a single thread that will help to capture all of the hides that we will need to do with the newer course player?

The one I am most concerned about are the Skills Tags and adjusting the size of the description...read more phenomena...I really dont want to see us lift and adjust hundreds of courses by hand to remove all of the AI generated tags.

Maybe we add it to the HTML/CSS discussion?

Only because our group does want to implement the new player - but we can only really implement some - which is ALOT of what you are hearing about above.

Two/Due | Is there anyway that the development side can expose some of these tags so we aren’t all inspecting/cooking/guessing at what we need to hide? It seems like alot of hours doing a hunt when we may not have to.

Hi Dobeco team-

We attended the recent Docebo release meeting and have several questions regarding the new UI for courses.

1.       The enrollment option says Free—Is there a way to remove this display to our learners?  I believe it will cause confusion as we do not have any paid courses in our program.

2.       Is there an option to narrow the blue/black header so more of our sessions appear above the fold?

3.       How do you change the sort order of the widgets for all the ILT or e-learning courses?

4.       Also—What is the logic behind the Docebo platform selecting the courses listed in the ‘Suggested for you’?

Thanks—We are excited about a single click for ILT registration, as this has caused some partner confusion during our pilot.

Hello,

After we enabled the Preview, the option to use a Course Overview Page has disappeared. It now takes the user directly to the course player, skipping all the UI updates:

Settings With Preview Enabled:

Settings With Preview Disabled:

Can you lend some advice? Thanks

Hello @Wendyseh, thanks for the feedback.

1.       The enrollment option says Free—Is there a way to remove this display to our learners?  I believe it will cause confusion as we do not have any paid courses in our program.

This would need to be done via CSS.

2.       Is there an option to narrow the blue/black header so more of our sessions appear above the fold?

We currently do not have an option for that, I’m adding this to the feedback list, could you open an idea in the community? this way we can also share it and monitor the interest.

3.       How do you change the sort order of the widgets for all the ILT or e-learning courses?

I’m not sure I get the question correctly, widgets can be sorted in the admin course page by reordering the widgets under the training material.

4.       Also—What is the logic behind the Docebo platform selecting the courses listed in the ‘Suggested for you’?

Currently the logic for those is: same catalog and same category. The constraint on the same catalog is needed for visibility; the user visibility is tied to the catalog so to guarantee that the suggested courses are visibile we use that as a rule.
