Fairly New, Looking for Best Practice for Assigning Multiple Courses w/different Due Dates

Hello!

I’m tasked with assigning 9 member service courses to a group of internal users. The modules are to be taken in order, one per month, with the prerequisite of completing the module(s) assigned prior. I’ve played around a bit with the Learning Plan as well as adding all the training material modules in one course, each with a different publish date, but neither seemed to be the best solution. I’d like the users to be notified each month as well, and I admittingly struggle with Notifications!

If anyone can provide assistance, I would be very grateful! I’m open to all suggestions and can answer questions if need be.

Thank you in advance for being such a helpful community!

We are doing exactly that with a new hire curriculum.

The first course in the Learning Plan is the New HIre Orientation course, which is marked complete on their first day. This is the core of the “unlocking” of the remaining courses. Each course is locked (Postpone the access until xx days after the prerequisites are met) until we want them to take them, and the prerequisite is the New Hire Orientation course.

The notifications are really the key. Our first notification is customized to explain how the courses unlock over time. Then, as each course unlocks, notifications are set up to remind them of what they should already have completed and what has just opened up.The notification is connected to the event “User has been enrolled in a learning plan.”

I hope this helps!

We have had similar issues. I have solved it in two different ways

For one class we created an ILT and then added events to a session as they were ready to share. This way learners got a notification that the event was added.

In another cas we used a learning plan and added classes as they were ready to share. This way learners got a notification that they had been enrolled in a class.

In both you can enforce order and take advantage of notifications.
