Why this format for a Study Guide?

Forum|alt.badge.img+3

I am curious about the format of the study guide a list of documents with links vs. using Docebo to create a study guide with one or more learning plans.

While I like the background information a 58 page document is not inviting. There are links to training in this document but it would be so much better if there were links to Learning Plans for each section. Then I would be able to enroll in the learning plans and track my progress on Docebo U.

Simply this reads like a training blueprint/design that has not been developed into a learning exerience.

Hi @dianex.gomez

Thanks so much for your interest in Docebo Pro! As an architect of this exam, it’s so exciting to see so many customers, partners, and fellow Docebians already delving into the certification and providing feedback. We’re always glad to field enquiries and respond to constructive suggestions for improvement.

You pose an important question about why we deployed the Study Guide in this stable, 60-page document with linked resources rather than a more embedded, seamless sequence of learning plans that would provide a superior experience.

Put simply, we were operating under two constraints that made this the right decision for the first phase of certification.

First, our Learning Plans in Docebo University are designed for onboarding customers rather than certification preparation. While there’s significant overlap in coverage here (one reason we linked to many of the courses in this Learning Plan) the onboarding learning plan is called “Getting Started” for a reason -- it’s calibrated to provide a foundational understanding of platform features and functions to help customers stand up the Learn platform. By contrast, the Certification Exam tests mastery for seasoned admins with at least 3-6 months’ experience operating in the Learn environment.

Second, and more significantly, we wanted the exam prep experience to be personalized. We know that there’s a world of difference between an experienced admin who’s been with us for five years and just needs to brush up on a few topics and a newly onboarded customer who launched the platform a little less than a year ago. So, we created a Study Tracker spreadsheet to allow a self-assessment of competence and confidence in all the topics the certification tests. That permits aspiring certificands to create and follow their own, individualized training paths, rather than just be enrolled in a one-size-fits-all set of Learning Plans.

That’s why we didn’t just create new Learning Plans with all the resources (Knowledge Base articles and courses) for the exam.

I hope that makes sense as an explanation of why we went about this the way we did. At first glance, a 60-page doc with links and a spreadsheet might not seem like the most inviting experience to begin prep to become a Pro, but we’re confident that this method best balances the resources we provide and the principle of customizability.

Still, I love your suggestions for improving the learning experience. I’d love to discuss with you how we might enhance this process in future phases of Docebo Pro, perhaps after you’ve gone through the certification exam and can provide an end-to-end assessment of the exam, the prep resources, and the user experience taking it. Feel free to DM me, and we’ll set up a meeting to exchange ideas. Until then, happy studying!

@jlreonal Yes,  you have 2 options for the guide Google Docs or PDF shared as two training materials in the course. You can also download the Excel file to do your own personal assessment of the tasks outlined in the guide and supplied in the spreadsheet.
