Reporting for multiple domains

So, we run multiple domains for different cohorts of people external to our company - each cohort has it’s own branch.

Let’s say some of the persons setting up courses for some of these domains have taken some shortcuts and have reused a course for another domain, effectively meaning that we have multiple cohorts enrolled onto one course. Ideally we would have the materials in the central repo, and an individual course per cohort so as to keep the data separate - there’s also different enrolment policies for each cohort.

I need some way of identifying courses that have more than one cohort enrolled on them. We have hundreds of courses. Manually is not an option. I can identify these cohorts by either their parent branch, or by their email domains.

My initial thought is: Create a Custom Report for Users - Courses. In the Filters tab make sure “All Users” and “All Courses” are selected, and in the View Options tab, make sure that “Branch” is selected. Then export that report, sort by course name, and look for courses associated to multiple branches. 

This is somewhat manual, but at least all of your data will be in one place and it is just a matter of sorting through it. 

This is my first thought. Would be interested to hear how others would solve for this.

Hi.

I am curious, can you explain this sentence to me “Let’s say some of the persons setting up courses for some of these domains have taken some shortcuts and have reused a course for another domain”. Do you mean they duplicate the training materials in another course completely instead of using the central repository? Is that part of the issue? 

So two (or more) courses (Course Codes are different) are really the same course over your multiple domains because they use the same training material...

cohorts = groups?
And do you need to report on groups? I am unclear of the ask/need still...and it could be me...it is early in the morning for me (US based). :-)

Cohorts roughly equivalent to parent branches.

Ah, thanks for that clarification. Then as a superadmin, you should be able to run reports as @katiedescribed above. It’s not automatic and will require some work, but with the raw data and some pivot tables in Excel, you should be able find what you need. So, somewhat automatic, but not completely.

I would use distinct count on the branch name/code per course perhaps...just a thought. Hope it helps.
