Two major issues with the way recertifications works now

Hi there,

We have two major issues.
1. Recertification isn’t possible on the mobile app. Since a high percentage our users are working on mobile devices it is a huge problem. I don’t understand, why there is a key function which is only usable within the browser.
2. Since the mobile app users can’t restart we tried to archive and reenroll manually which would solve the problem. But in this case the recertifications certificate isn’t updated. This means, that the certification of courses is still expired eventhough the user has retaken it after manually archiving.

These issues should be considered when revamping this system.

kind regards

The Task List page widget is mobile friendly, and has a “Certification to Renew” option

Thanks for the Answer @JZenker
But as far as I know (I just tested it again) the “Certification to Renew“ is not visible in the task list widget within the mobile app.

Good catch. I would add a bit of text possible on the widget that says if you are viewing on mobile, to switch to desktop to click Renew or something of the like

This is very important to our group as well. There is an idea in the ideas portal under consideration that will allow users to renew certifications on the mobile app. (At lease that’s how I understood it.) Our group has added feedback as to why this is critical for our users.  https://portal.productboard.com/npwrnbvnfrya8zlkldjheykv/c/96-golearn-certifications-to-renew-on-task-list-widget

Hey @gerhard_v

I hear your pain!!!  We found out the hard way that the GoLearn app does not enable certifications to renew and are now faced with an underpayment issue.  I would have hoped this was something that our CSM/AM would have forewarned us about, but like all things in Docebo, you have to make the mistake and work it out yourself it seems.

Our current work around was to unfortunately remove access to the app and all our employees access training via the web version on their mobile phone - not ideal!!

On a brighter note - good news!!  I do believe it is scheduled in the Roadmap for release later this year that certifications will work within the app version.

I'm so glad I found this thread! I've been trying to figure this out and honestly thought I was missing something — I couldn’t believe the certification renewal functionality wasn’t available on the app. Unfortunately for us, the majority of our users are app-based, and we run several different certifications for compliance purposes.

It’s strangely comforting to see others are facing the same challenge — sometimes it really helps just knowing you’re not alone in the struggle. I’ll start exploring a workaround too. Fingers crossed we’ll see this improved in the app soon!

Thank you for flagging this up! We are mid-implementation and hadn’t come across this issue yet.

I work in healthcare and compliance and retraining is really important to us. IT resources are also limited, so one of the big advantages of the system was supposed to be that learners would be able to recertify their mandatory training via the mobile app.

We will have to remove access to the app until this issue is resolved, as it is too much of a risk to use it with this issue.

Likewise, one of the reasons for implementing Docebo was use of mobile. Hope this is resolved soon as it makes the mobile app unusable for us. Another example of something I wish we had been forwarned about in making our decision.

Hello here!

Thank you for highlighting these two points – both are correct and reflect the current system behavior:

  • Mobile App – Certification renewals are currently not supported on mobile, which understandably creates a limitation for mobile-first users.

  • Manual Reenrollment – When administrators archive and manually reenroll a user, this does not trigger a certification renewal. As a result, the certification remains expired even if the course has been retaken.

The good news is that both limitations will be addressed with the certification revamp. Specifically:

  • Certification renewals will be supported on the mobile app.

  • Administrators will gain more granular control over the recertification process, including the ability to manually trigger a renewal when needed – ensuring certifications and certificates are properly updated.

@Nicolo Malinverno What is the timeline for fixing cert renewals on the app?  Most of my users are deskless workers and the widget on the mobile app is misleading bc it says “nothing here.”

@Nicolo Malinverno Are there any news regarding this topic. We’re starting to get really frustrated about the fact we have to manually reenroll user which are using the app and then have to search for the certifications to delete them, so the users don’t get a reminder for courses they have already retaken.
I don’t get why a functionality like this isn’t accessible in every way Docebo is useable.

This is a huge fumble that needs to be fixed.

@Nicolo Malinverno Is there an expected timeline for resolving this issue? I can see that users are able to view expired certifications, but they still cannot renew them within the app. We’ve just completed the implementation process, and I was not aware that mobile recertification was not supported.

As 90% of our workforce uses mobile devices and we are a heavily compliance-based organisation, having clarity on the timeline for this functionality would be extremely helpful.

I’ve been told it’s on the 2026 roadmap, not sure when exactly. We are in the same boat, and really need this to become a reality sooner rather than later.
