We need a way to automatically enroll learners into specific ILT sessions, especially for recurring events like our monthly Community of Practice. To streamline the learner experience, we currently manage all events within a single ILT session to keep learner experience simple:

  • Learners enroll once and get calendar invites for each monthly event

  • No need to manage multiple sessions or re-enrollment

  • Easy to update event details within the same session

However, we have come up against some big barriers:

  • No way to trigger learning evaluation surveys per event

  • Learners only get credit for completing one session, no matter how many events they attend

  • To track completions or surveys per event, we’d need new sessions—meaning manual re-enrollment each time

We do this and it took me a while to find a way to make it work. Here is a short version as I am teaching a class today, but reply with questions and I can expand tomorrow.

  1. Create the ILT with one session that has all the events.
  2. Send an email to your audience with a session enrollment link
  3. Set Session properties so completion is 1 event

Once they click the link they are enrolled and once they are marked as having attending one event they get credit AND can take as many more as they want. Thic can also be set to include recordings.

If emailing is going to become a reoccurring thing, put it in a catalog. When someone tries to enroll they have to pick a session at enrollment and boom, they are in.

I did a wbinar with Eskills where I walked through what worked and what didn’t for us if you want to watch. https://lnkd.in/eJQ255zd It is called developing uncomplicated solutions to complicated problems.
