ILT Session - event invitation confusion

I have an “ILT session Enrollment” notification setup to invite users to a calendar event for the session they just signed up for.

However, this session contains multiple events within it - but they are only technically being invited for a calendar hold on the first event in the series.

Does anyone know of a way to invite users to have calendar holds for every event in the session?

Thanks!

Hey Greg!

It’s been a hot minute :) So there are a few ways to do this, and I highly encourage submitting a Support Ticket if you’d like to get more in-depth than the explanations below. I’ll also respond here, but as it’s a semi-public venue, I’d caution from getting overly specific. The aforementioned few ways:

  • We can use a Connect Recipe for this using the Outlook Connector. This comes at a cost, but what you’re describing is definitely a use case for it.
  • Alternatively, we can use the ILT Event Started notification (KB link here) and target the notification to go out x amount of days, hours or weeks before the event starts as per the screenshot below from my test platform:

We could also add the [calendar_sync_url] shortcode in there for an ICS attachment, which would let users download it to add it to Outlook or Google Calendar, or really any calendar that supports ICS, which is most.

Only real downside of using the notifications approach above would be that it would fire a separate email for each event. But it’s without the cost associated with Connect, which could be an upside.

Connect would let you get way more custom with it. In any case though, this would make an entirely valid Support Ticket if you wanted to open one for our team. We can do so via the instructions in this KB here (Knowledge Base).

I’ll be watching replies here if you want to discuss this in more depth, and best of luck with this use case!

Thanks so much for the help, Andrew! We got it working with the ‘event is starting soon’ notification. We also have connect now which is doing wonders for our ILT invites as well. Thanks again!

Ooooh I love that for you and your team @ Connect! Most of the use cases we’ve discussed over the past two years could be solved to some degree or another with Connect :)

Looking forward to seeing you and Amy soon if you’re going to Inspire!
