Question:  Is there is a way for users to tap into uploaded resources without making it a course?

The scenario/problem: We are trying to upload a lot of documents, add it to a specific space organized by folders, then have a search function for users to be able to find what they need and download/view the file. What we don’t want is to add the files to a course where learners have to enroll or “retake” the course every time they want to access the resources. Essentially, a repository of resources for users to have access to without making them enroll into a course to access the files.

What I have tried: I know I can make a course and add a file repository widget where all the files are searchable, can be in folders, and users have the ability to download/view. We want this but not as a course! The other downside of this way is each file has to be uploaded one by one -- I am trying to upload A LOT of files (in bulk)

Hi @vv2943a - Channels might be worth looking into here. Edit: As pointed out by others, you would need Discover, Coach, and Share to use this approach. While you can’t create folders within a channel, you could create channels for each thematic grouping of the files. Within a channel, you can upload files and links, giving each a title and description. Channel assets then are indexed in the global search, similar to how courses are indexed. Typing a keyword in the site search bar will show relevant assets just like it would courses.

You can upload multiple files, but be advised that the file name will become the asset title. If you want to edit those after upload, you can but you’d have to do so individually. It might be best to ensure the files are named appropriately before you upload.

Once you’ve created a channel, you can then set the visibility based on groups, branches, or users.

This requires Discover, Coach & Share, correct?

Correct, you need DCS to be able to load more than just courses to your channels.

Have you thought about using an external tool like Sharepoint to house your documents and you can create a page to link to those?

@lrnlab Yeah, I figured that was a feature from DCS which I do not have :(

The other option is to have it all in our Google Drive and link it, I’m assuming like Sharepoint, but we were hoping there was a way in Docebo without having to link it (since we want the resources to come from one space as much as possible)

Other than purchasing DCS or adding your content to a course, links are the only other option I can think of.
