Adding Supervisor Field to Custom Reports

I’m wondering if it’s possible to add the users’ supervisor as a field in a custom report? We send out overdue training reports to supervisors in mass, and want to provide a quicker, easier way to find their team members as they sometimes manage across departments.

@madysen.rooney I’m assuming that you are using the Direct Manager field as the one for the supervisor information. Do you have groups by supervisor?  If yes, then could build a series of reports where the data is filtered by that group.This might not be optimal if you have a million supervisors 😣.

You can add the Direct Manager field to a report under the View Options (for most report formats), so you can at least make it a bit more sortable in Excel.

@madysen.rooney We have user additional fields for primary, secondary, and tertiary supervisors and can pull this data under the View Options as @KMallette said. I routinely send these out to supervisors because it is faster than the dashboard for supervisors like you mentioned.

@KMallette Where would I find ‘View Options?’ When I go to configure the report that’s the only field I can’t select to view on the report. I may be in the wrong spot… Are you adding a user additional field manually to input the direct manager’s name and then add that to the report, or are you using the direct manager field that comes with the platform?

 @madysen.rooney which reports module are you using to create your report?  View Options is a tab you go into when creating a report under the New Reports module.  If you are using the “Reports” module, it would be under the area where you filter the enrollment/completion dates. 

Both user additional fields and the “Direct Manager” fields are available to select from when creating a report under the New Reports module. 

We have a user additional field to list manager and VPs (we are not using the My Teams feature at this time), and we can select it to appear on the report when creating a report so that we can filter it by manager on the exported report file.

Once you’ve created the report in the New Report engine. It’s at the top of the screen.
