Adding the assignment file to the assignment

Hi,

I want to have my learners fill out a file for an assignment they need to complete. I loaded the file (word doc) to the central repository. I created the assignment information about what I want them to do. I am concerned my learners will ask lots of questions about how to get the file or not understand it if the directions are in the assignment but they separately have to download the file elsewhere (another training material). Can I link from the file in the central repository or attach it directly to the assignment with the details about what the assignment is?

From the sound of the above, you have one file explaining the process and a second with the actual assignment. My personal thought is to upload the instructions in the slide converter for learners to view and in the file, prompt them to ask questions using the Q&A widget on the course. Then, I would have the file for download, but you are saying they have to download it separately. 

If I am missing something, feel free to elaborate.

​@emily.mccarthy thanks for replying. I don’t appear to have a widget called Q&A. Am I looking in the right place? I’m in training material > Add course widgets.

The Q&A widget is only available in e-learning courses. I did not know this course was an ILT. My apologies! You could add the comments and tell users they can leave questions there as a work around.

It’s an elearning course.

So my new theory is that the Q&A function is only available if you have Discover, Coach and Share. My apologies! I would definitely use the Comments option as a work around.

I appreciate the help. I’m definitely not happy with the current solution, and this seemed like a much better one. Thank you.

​@EmilyW_Tacoma Hi, Emily  … I might put the instructions at the end of the content course, with a segway that says “Hey, you have an assignment. Here’s where you find the assignment in the course widgets below.”
