I’ve read through the community help articles on this topic, and need some guidance/suggestions on how to do the following.

We have a selection of courses that are assigned to all new hires and due within 30 days of their start date. These courses are assigned via a learning plan currently.

Annually, the same courses need to be assigned to all staff, however, anyone who started within 60 days of the launch/assignment don’t need to complete the courses again unless the content of the courses changes, and then they are required to complete the course. We were thinking about using learning plans to assign these courses as there are about 10 courses that each user needs to complete.

The content for these courses is loaded into the central repository.

For one of the e-learning courses, I uploaded an updated SCORM file in the central repository today as a major version and expected the training material to be reset for the users who previously completed it and for their enrollments to be archived. When I went to the course to try to manually archive the enrollments for the users, I received an error message saying this couldn’t be done because the course was associated with a learning plan, which has been completed by the users.

Does anyone know how to archive the enrollments and reset the training material for individuals who previously completed a course that is associated with a learning plan so that they can take the updated course?

Also, if a user is enrolled in a learning plan and is deactivated (leaves the organization) and their enrollment needs to be archived for the courses, what’s the best way to handle this?

Any suggestions and ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Pretty sure that is a hard stop when it comes to archiving courses that are part of a learning plan. Sadly there haven't been many improvement or keenrhancements to the archive function since it launched a few years ago. You might try placing your LP in a Certification shell rot see if the users can use the RENEW option that should reset and archive the courses. I know this works for individual courses but haven't yet tested with LPs.

There is an update coming to Certifications and retraining app that will now be offshoot of the LP so perhaps that will solve the issue; however it’s not panned till sometime next year.

We are in the same boat and have been anxiously awaiting the new Certifications/Retraining/LP archiving solution . . . I recently rebuilt 15 LPs at the course level so that we can archive and re-enroll the users in their annual trainings. Using the certification app as it is now is not an option unfortunately due to the number of clicks required and the fact that users can accidentally reset their entire training very easily.  Sorry there isn’t better news right now  :-(
