Hi all.

I noticed yesterday that Docebo now allows Power Users to create automatic groups. When looking at the release page, it reads like it is an option & I get the impression that we can assign or unassign Automatic Groups as needed. But this is not the case. All of my Power Users can create either type of group, unless I assign Groups to them altogether, which is similarly not practical.

This is not ideal for us, because I don’t really have time to create instructional material for our PUs, which I typically do when there is a significant change in the system.

Does anyone know of a way to limit PUs’ access here?

Thanks!

Had the same thought as we ere testing...I cannot see any way to limit it to just manual groups as it was before.

from what is posted here, the Create permission comes with both options (manual & automatic).

We are allowing most of the admins to keep this anyway but are limiting who can use enrolments rules with auto groups as this is the part that is a little more dangerous for novice or less experienced admins.

I filled out a ticket for this & they just now came back to me & said it’s possible to fix but they have to escalate the ticket.

So I can hold off on making more instructional videos for now until things are a bit calmer, if that ever happens.

interesting...so are they saying it should not work like that? would appreciate if you can keep adding to this thread as you get more info...thank you!

They got back to me a bit ago & confirmed the option was removed. I double-checked &, as promised, our Power Users can now only create/edit manual groups.

So it is possible to restrict, you just need to request it. Again, reading the release notes I had a very different impression about it, but so it goes, I guess.

thanks for the follow-up...so does that mean it’s either with the ability to create auto groups or not, or did they add a permission so we can select for ourselves whether or not to allow an admin to create auto groups? That letter would be ideal.

sorry, forgot to come bac to this...i can now only assign the ability to create, edit, &/or delete manual groups to users. i can’t give certain users access to automatic groups & not others.

OH! that’s no fun...thanks for the update.
