I have created a course that links to an external provider where users receive a certificate of completion. The course is a screen recording of how to enrol into this external link, and therefore do not want users registered as having completed the course just by reviewing the screen recording.
Is there a way of having the end object marker in the course activated as yes when a certificate is uploaded? Or, any other options to ensure users are actually completing the course. This will be a mandated legal requirement.
Thanks for any help!

Have you looked into using the “Assignment” learning object to allow users to upload their cert? Only thing is you would need to eventually “evaluate” their entries in order to mark the object as completed and this the course…

From a legal requirement mandate, the assignment is a good option, because evaluating the assignment allows you to confirm that a certificate is uploaded (I have seen users upload random files to assignments). You could set up a notification to be sent to a course instructor when the assignment (certificate) is uploaded.
Thanks @lrnlab and @Annarose.Peterson
I will investigate the assignment option. My concern with 1000+ employees I can not manually verify upload to mark the course complete. Can this be automated once upload is complete, I assume this certification sits in user External/Prior Training?
thanks
Quickly browsed the API list but cannot find anything related to grading assignments. I guess based on the fact that you need to download the assignment to grade, it may not be possible...
Hi Suzy,
The external/prior training is a separate module than the courses. An Admin or user themselves must manually add the external training record.
I am not aware of any way to automate the assignment, But you might be able to use a file upload with a Docebo test. Using the question type: Upload, and setting the passing score of your test to zero, It should mark the test as completed once the user upload a file. (I did a quick test and that seemed to work). You will not be required to evaluate it, but the system will still store the file in the reports so you could go and download it to review if you are ever required to do so.
ooh, sorry for the multiple responses. I was playing even more, and if you set your assignment with the option “Learner can progress in course when assignment is submitted”, it will mark the activity as completed, even without an evaluation.
The only downside is, there will be messaging on the course saying that it still needs evaluation, but the training material marks as completed. You might need to play with making sure the course in its entirety is marked as complete.
