Hello Everyone!

We have annual compliance courses that everyone is required to take. They are distributed as a learning plan containing all of the pertinent courses. Last year, we had some of our employees go on leave, taking them into the new year. Upon return, they were assigned this year’s compliance requirements. However, last year’s requirements are still showing as not completed (the courses are different from this year’s training). We would like to waive the requirement from last year so we can see that they were still assigned the course, but mark the course so it will make their learning plan marked as complete.

How are you handling course waivers?

tl;dr - we want to waive a required course so we can show they were enrolled, but not required to finish.

Thank you!

Sadly there are no “waived” type completion statuses. I would suggest you use the “Suspended” status however it appears you cannot archive records with this status so that might not work.

Another idea would be create a course shell called something like waived course and make it an equivalent to the real course so you can track the user as completed on the course shell and it will mark he prior year’s course as completed. You can then use the record of the course shell (when assigned and tracked as completed) as a means to identify who may have been waived from the completion. A little clunky but with the lack of options to create our own completion statuses or the ability to “waive” a course, this might work for you.
