Hi folks & happy Friday.

Someone brought to my attention that on the Course Player (we use the new one), when they’re viewing a course or Learning Plan for which they’re not enrolled, they see the label ‘Instructor’ above the Enroll button (see below). It doesn’t really make sense, & I’d imagine will lead to some confusion. We’d like to change it but  it’s difficult to tell on the Localization Tool where this label comes from because the lone word ‘Instructor’ shows up several times. As a side-note, we’re currently having issues with editing on this page, but that’s a separate issue which has earned itself a ticket for the Help Desk.

Has anyone else seen this? If so, could anyone tell me exactly where in Localization Tool I would go to fix it?

Thanks!

@NateC I don’t have any experience with the new player, as we haven’t enabled it yet… so just an idea to test/think about.

Instead of tracking it in the localization tool, and risking that the change will affect other places in the system (as some labels are reused across the site), it might be easier to hide it on that particular page using CSS.

PS. I think you are referring to a screenshot with “see below” but it seems it didn’t get attached.

can you add a pic?

tip for finding proper labels I use is, I add a letter a symbol to the text in Localization app wherever you see your text and then figure out which one it is when I refresh the site...

Thanks @lrnlab that’s a good idea...once we get our Localization Tool working properly again I’ll try this approach. And yeah, i thought I had attached a screenshot but somehow didn’t. This one should work though.

@NateC You might also try the browser Dev tools to see if that helps locate the particular instance of the label.

@NateC yes that is an odd label...is that on the new course player? mine shows this...am wondering if somehow the labels got crossed...very odd...you might also log a ticket to ask support about this

@lrnlab Yeah, it’s the new course player. ‘Available’ makes more sense, think I’ll use that once we get our Localization Tool working again...I’ll hold off on a new ticket until after we get LT back, I want to see if I can fix it myself, but if not, yeah I’ll definitely submit another one...

@NateC We didn't make any label changes for this page which is what is making think that someone in your company may have changed that in error..?? “Available” is the default in our instance.

Ah, I see what you mean @lrnlab

Yes, I was also wondering if someone had inadvertently changed this. This is why I wish the Localization Tool had some visual context clues, to avoid these types of errors.

If you search for “Available” (the original label) and find one that shows “Instructor” in the label text, you would have found the issue.

It’s a good thought but unfortunately searching for ‘Available’ while using CTRL+F to find ‘Instructor’ came up with bupkis...which makes me think I might actually have to submit a ticket for this…

@NateC they may have an easier way to locate that label.

tried finding the label but it seems my localization app is hav ing issues...I can edit when I first open the language but if I search, I cannot edit...grrr...logged a ticket

We changed the word “Free” to “Available” so maybe that’s the label you need to look for?

app Free

Available

Interesting mine is showing ‘Open’ in that spot, so definitely seems a change was made somewhere.

I downloaded the file as I was running into a few of the search issues above, and theres a few spots I see from searching that might make sense. I sometimes find searching the export easier than the tooling.

Hi @lrnlab Thanks for locating this!

As you’re currently seeing, we are unable to make any changes to the Localization Tool at present, but once it works i’ll test this in the Sandbox.

@NateC support says a fix should drop on the 25th...UGH...

Does the export/import trick work or is that blocked too?

Either it doesn’t work or i’ve done it wrong. Both options are feasible.

Or, I changed the wrong section. Also a possibility. I might have said this before, but this tool should really give more contextual clues, like screenshots or something.

Th export seems to work but haven't tried ti re-import. The screen is also off from what I see...seems we know see some kind of variable when searching + the list is blank when you open it. DOA!
