Hi all,

Seeking best advice please.

I have 5 SCORM1.2 files that I want to add as training materials into one eLearning module. This will become a mandatory induction course placed in the Learning Plan.  Previously there were all separated as individually modules sitting within a learning plan but this way does not allow for me to prioritise the order of completion and to ensure how users are rostered and paid for completed training.

Questions:

Can anyone foresee issues with having this many stacked?

Will I still be able to pull reports on the individual progress of users within each SCORM file from course properties?

Historically, we have had multiple users complete training but it sometimes does not register as course completed status with tracking material as 0%.  Docebo Support ticket states that this is a user issue when not exiting the course correctly (have educated users how to exit with clear language on last widget within SCORM indicating to click exit course button), or a mobile vs WIFI issue.

Hi @Suzy_q, I don’t see any issues with including the 5 SCORM 1.2 in a single course. That said, depending on how long each TM is, might be a lot for a learner to consume and digest within one course topic.

You can prioritize the order of the SCORMs within the course itself if that is a need - either using sequential navigation setting in course properties or pre-requisites in training material (TM) section.

The reports tab on the course will show you the progress by learner for each TM.

SCORM 1.2 requires the learner to click on an exit button in order for the tracking information to be communicated to the LMS (Docebo). Best practice is to have a button at the end of the course instructing the learner to click to exit/complete the course.

The other issue with SCORM is that it will timeout after a period of time, “breaking” the communication between the SCORM and the LMS. This typically happens if a learner leaves the module open, steps away for an hour or more, then comes back to resume. Even if the learner completes the course at that stage, it won’t communicate the completion back to the LMS. Best practice is to set the session lifetime setting in Docebo to the maximum. Advanced Settings>Advanced Options>Session Lifetime. This setting can help to a degree but doesn’t guarantee 100% that you won’t have timeout issues.

SCORM and mobile is also prone to this and if any network issues, even temporary, the communication is “broken” between the module and the LMS. xAPI does a much better job at keeping the communication “open” between the module and the LMS. Something to consider.

Hope this helps…

Mark
