Notifications for Direct Managers and users

@Suzy_q Hi, Suzy I’ve been wondering about this myself this week. While I haven’t had a chance to do any testing, here’s what I’ve been thinking.

• There’s no method to add Direct Managers or anyone else as a cc:.  A much needed feature imho.
• Two communications is an idea; however, the DMs wouldn’t know which of their people are impacted. There aren’t short codes, etc. in the message where they could be listed. The most this could be is “You have some team members whose certification is expiring.”
  • Building a group that could contain both the certified learners and their DMs. This could at least get everyone into the same process, however, again you would be limited by the message.
    • Perhaps `building a group for each DM of their certified learners could work, and then use a notification for each group. So when a DM gets a notification, they would know that their certified learners are up for renewal. Complicated...agreed.
• Notifications to both DMs and learners might be better handled outside of Learn. You could pull a User-Certification report (or use APIs perhaps) to find the list of expiring certificates, and then build a standard email to the DMs.
  • Depending on your “IT” resources, you might be able to build an automated system. If the report can be placed into a location where a email blast platform can consume it (like an S3 bucket or network drive), you could have an email templates prepared for each audience (learners & DMs).

Rereading your post, and looking at my thoughts I can see that we both have spotted the same concerns. Best wishes! Would love to hear what you decide to do.

Thanks for sounding this out with me.  I feel I have landed at the User-certification report and then filtering it out and manually sending this to the respective DMs to manage their team.

Having the options to add a cc for DMs would be useful but again unless it can be user specific the DMs will receive too many emails and not directly know which user it is intended for.
