Question

power user as an wxtwenal (customer) manager?

That title word is “External”, so much for typing this on a phone!

We are a mall training team utilizing Docebo as an online alternative to classroom training offerings globally. Things are going well and we have grown. We are Parthenon where some of our customers are 100 - 200 students strong.
My question is has anyone setup an external power user, in my case a supervisor of one of our customers, to manage training: review progress reports,

export progress data etc? They would not be able to assign training courses as that is done at the point of sale.
However my real concern is security and some apprehension about this setup to avoid loss of trust and to ensure the supervisor can only access the courses annd students assigned to his/her team.
Again, maybe overthinking it but it’s a big change from our internal management of the system that is really working out well for us.
Any input appreciated.

Hi @Greg.M

The key is to control Power User’s ‘assigned resources’ and permissions within those resources:

  1. Assigned Resources

    • Make sure each external Power User (customer supervisor) is assigned only:

      • Their specific users (could be in a form of group or branch)

      • Their specific courses.

A Power User can only see and report on what’s assigned to them, they have no visibility outside their scope.

  1. Power User Profile/ Permissions (one-time setup)

    • Carefully configure the permissions when assigning a Power User Profile:

      • Allow viewing reports / progress

      • Allow exporting data (if needed)

      • Exclue course creation, editing, or deletion

      • Exclude user deletion or reassignment

These ensures they’re purely in a read-only / reporting role.

Thank you for the answer Zohair. And thanks in advance for any additional answers.

I’ve done the following and found some limitations:

“Make sure each external Power User (customer supervisor) is assigned only:

  • Their specific users (could be in a form of group or branch) I’ve used a Group here, for only their users in the group.

  • Their specific courses. I haven't figured out how to restrict them to specific courses based for a group. I do not see this option under “Groups”

Power User Profile/ Permissions (one-time setup)

  • Carefully configure the permissions when assigning a Power User Profile:

    • Allow viewing reports / progress Under the Power User Profile assigned, I see only “View” or “Edit” under the permissions for “Reports”

    • Allow exporting data (if needed) Also, do not see an “exporting Data” under Power Users Profile → Manage Permissions -> Add permissions

    • Exclue course creation, editing, or deletion - Also not sure where this access is provided

    • Exclude user deletion or reassignment

These ensures they’re purely in a read-only / reporting role.

Lasty, When the Power User logs in and can access and see the insights dashboard I have created for this purpose,  the underlying data is not accessible.
