Team Manager vs Assigning Resources

Hello! I am working on structuring Docebo for our restaurant company that has 2 hierarchies. We have an AM and GM, we want them to both be managers for their teams and we have them established as the

  • Main Branch = AM area
  • Subbranch = Store locations/GMs.

We have an issue with our ADP report for the CVS upload, it does not have the GM/AM connection, only has info on if someone is or isn't a manager (yes/no). We want to figure out how to create that connection, for when a trainee is uploaded, they can be directly assigned to the GM and AM.

I thought about using the Location code that is part of the Store subbranch and is a column in the ADP report. Because AM’s are Power users, so I thought assigning a resource such as its corresponding AM main branch and the GM/Store subbranches to the AM poweruser, would help create that manager connection. I believe I may be wrong, does any one have any ideas?

ex.

Parent Branch = VA AM

Subbranch = Alexandria store (branch code = 40G)

Employee Info:

Location code = 40G

Employee would be part of Alexandria subbranch and VA parent branch.

You should have a look at creating additional Manager types. This will grant the additional manager (not direct) most o the managers functions found on My Team

Manager Types Overview:

  • Manager types categorize managers based on organizational structure.
  • Up to 10 manager types can be created.
  • Created via Admin menu > Users > Manage teams and managers > Manage managers type.
  • Assign managers to specific manager types.
  • Manager types can be activated/deactivated but not deleted if associated with users.
  • Users can be associated with only one manager type.

This setup helps define and manage hierarchical relationships within your platform.

@lrnlab thank you for your reply. We are working with Manager types as well, but we are having issues with uploading our ADP report because its missing the association to AM for employees. They only report the direct association they have with their GM.

That being said, we are looking into giving AMs branches as their assigned resource because all employees will be in a AM branch. We know that with certain permission and profiles, the AM as a Power User will be able to manage those users in those branches. But now we want to know what we would be losing if we used this “Assigned Resource” method instead of the “Team Manager” method.

Dont think they’ll lose anything access as long as you configure their permissions and resources to match what they need to see and access. You might have more control. You might need to think about how to maintain that access if the additional managers change over time.
