Hello everyone,

My organization is currently onboarding Docebo as our very first cohesive Learning Management System. Currently we are trying to understand use cases for applying course additional fields.

If you and your organization are using course and/or session additional fields, can you please share which ones you use, and how and why they improve the user experience?

We use an additional dropdown course field called Status to track which courses are in draft, current, or retired status.

You can use them for anything and decide whether they can/should be visible to users and/or used a filters in your catalogues...Lots of options...We use them primarily to track additional course data like,

  • Course owner
  • Content update [date]
  • Notes
  • etc.

There are 3 types you can use...for courses, for ILT and for Enrolment...the latter will be displayed to users when there go through the enrolment process so you can collect information from the user upon enrolment (like, dietary restrictions, travel preference, etc.)

We use additional course fields to flag specific courses for integrations.

For example, we use a third party survey system, and using the drop down additional field, when a course is flagged “Yes” for a survey, the third party system will email someone when the course is marked as complete.

The additional fields can also be added to reports, so you can also use them to help you organize your content (let’s say you want to identify internal only courses, vs external training courses) and then easily filter them out on a exported report.

Anyone know how to generate a report that will include ONLY courses with a course additional field set to something, or not blank? I.E  - Compliance courses with a course additional field set to (tier 1). Would include all courses with that course additional field set to that specifically and not blank.
