Question

Can I create a "sign-in" link to send to external individuals so they don't have to set up and remember a password?

Is there any way to create a one-time use access link or a similar login link for certain users?

TLDR: I want employees to use SSO exclusively, but we also use the platform for contractors who have to have manual login. Is there a way to force SSO (I know I can turn off the manual login option) while still allowing external parties to access the courses they need?

We use the platform for internal employees and external contractors. The contractors have a restricted view but we have to maintain the records of the courses they take for safety reasons. I am curious if it is possible, rather than setting them up with a username and pw, if there is a way to send them a special sign-in link (oauth maybe? webhook?) that they can access what they need from, but then they don’t have to log in at all.

The real reason I am looking to do this is because I want to deactivate the manual login option and only use SSO for our employees, we’ve recently discovered common passwords are being used and not changed and have decided that it’s time to get people on the SSO train.

(And yes, I have an image behind the login page with instructions, which clearly people don’t read)

Does anyone have any experience in this area?

I’m not aware of a way to log-in without some kind of validation, but I’ll be interested to hear if you find one.

You could do this with Extended Enterprise, you could have separate log-in pages for your internal vs external users and the internal one could be SSO only.  This is what we do, though there is an expense involved in having that feature in Docebo, but might we worth looking into.

You would need to use a 3rd party authentication tool like Open ID to do that. As mentioned in the post above, there is no “pass-thru” option for sign-in so if you disable the combo login/SSO panel, those users not in your federated SSO group will not be able to sign in.

Also note you can have 2 different SSO login options (ex: Open ID & SAML) but you would still need to leave the login panel enabled for users to be able to choose one or the other.
